Ghostly Encounters: True Stories of America’s Haunted Inns and Hotels
By Frances Kermeen

Ever wanted to see a ghost, but just don’t know where to go? Frances Kermeen’s helpful book Ghostly Encounters: True Stories of America’s Haunted Inns and Hotels is the perfect resource for the amateur ghost hunter who wishes to seek spirits in comfort and style.

Kermeen is uniquely suited to compile a list of haunted hotels and inns. As a former owner of the Myrtles Plantation, reputed to be one of the most-haunted buildings in America, she has a lot of experience with creepy footsteps and ghostly rapping. Over a period of two years she gathered eyewitness accounts from hotel owners, employees and guests across the United States, and faithfully reported them in short, clear articles. Unlike many books on haunted houses, Kermeen takes care to provide the hotels’ location, amenities, contact information, and other local areas of interest.   It is a travel guide, but she also brings personality and history to each spirit, naming them when the identity is known and sharing best guesses when it is not. Sometimes scary, sometimes sad, Ghostly Encounters just may inspire you to spend the night in a haunted hotel, hoping to see a ghost. (Or, if you are a gleeful coward like me, you can armchair travel from the safety of your couch and keep the ghosts at a safe distance.)
