So far I think there are only about two references to Percy and co. existing in the same world as The Kane Chronicles. They're brief, but that's why they're nice. You get the references as little things that almost say, "Yes, they're in the same world as Percy, but there are other things to deal with here let us move on." Maybe a little nicer than how I typed it, but still. :) Also, The Heroes of Olympus series has started nicely. <3
I'm about halfway through The Red Pyramid, and so far I've only picked up on one side comment that references the Olympians, but it's very subtle. I really like that, because naturally one of the things I was wondering was how the two mythologies would compare. The different approaches to gods and goddesses have been really fun.
I really have got to try and get a little more current with Riordan's books, though. I was really surprised when I looked up the publication date and realized The Last Olympian is already two years old!
Part of me wishes that in future books of the Kane Chronicles they'll meet some halfbloods from Greek mythology in passing, but the other part of me hopes it isn't so. I like the passing remarks that remind us that yes, it's the same world, but we're still focused on the mythology at hand. :)
And he's doing two books a year too - One from Kane, one from Heroes, til both are finished. He is a writing machine now, it seems.
Oh, I did read this one. It's The Lost Hero that I haven't gotten around to. Reading your review, I realized I don't remember much of the details from the PJ series...might have to revisit.
