the irish are not my fucking people. was i born in ireland? no. were you? no. your people are the people with whom you grow up, the culture you're a part of and assimilated into.

where do you think the militant islamic terrorists got their ideas of hitting public places? the i.r.a. they saw how successful it was as a terrorist tactic and proceeded to copycat.

the whole point of this post was satire and you fell into it hook, line and sinker.

the whole point was to draw out people obsessed with heritage and race and OMG IRISH IS COOL. i dont give a fuck about the irish or what they as a race have or havent done. racial identification of oneself is what i was really hitting at with this piece. owned.

If you don't like it, I'll have to punch you in the face.

try it. my whole point is fuck categorization by race/nationality/etc. nationalism has never accomplished anything good, ideas of racial superiority (which is what happens when you get too much into racial pride) have caused shit like slavery, the holocaust, so on and so forth. so fuck it all. people are people. i'm from new orleans and i am WHO i am, not WHERE i'm from.

Nationalism never accomplishing anything good?

Buddy, once directed in the right direction it does wonders! Rome was all nationalism, there hasn't been Italian nationalism since it's fall. And that government is the longest lasting system Italy has ever seen by at leat 500 years. easy.

And you can't forget Nazi Germany. Sure, sure, then they went and conquered a bunch of innocent nations, but look at what it did for the economy and during the great depression! That's an accomplishment, let me tell you.

remember benito mussolini? fascism is entirely based on a jingoistic sense of nationalism.

what did rome accomplish? the brutal murder and conquering of native tribes accross europe?

economic gains arent accomplishments because economy is entirely psychological.

Mussolini: You forget Italian ennui and easy-going demeanor.
Rome: A)Very little of history doesn't involve the brutal murder and conquest of some native tribe, so don't give me that self-righteous sob story. B)Rome conquered most of the known world, and not just *weep* defense native tribes. Carthage wasn't just a city, it was an empire in it's own right, it had Spain at some point. Wanna know what happened to it?

And finally, the economy is everything. Everything in this world leads back to an economic system of some sort. Denial of the power within the all mighty dollar is like denying that you are human. There isn't an event in history that cannot be linked to violence and/or someones purse. Hence the truth behind "There are only two things garunteed in life; death and taxes." Prepare for the worst man.

if you define history as the past 10,000 years after the agricultural revolution, sure. but what about the 2 million years before that? human history didnt begin with cities.

sorry but i cant argue with someone whose perspectives are so blinded by the great forgetting of our culture. its an exercise in futility and a lot of the time i forget that most people dont see things in remotely the same light as i do.
