Well hey, El-Jay! Hope everyone is well and ready to take on the new year.
I've been in Prague almost two months now and still blogging from
here. It's been crazy, and awesome, and frustrating, and I've done more living and learned more about myself and the world in two months than I did in the two years after college. I got my TEFL certification so (in theory) I can teach English all over the world. I've made friends from all over the world; Australia, England, Uganda, South Africa, Russia, here in Prague, and all over the states. I've learned a lot about the bureaucracy in this country and just how much red tape is in the world. I had a fling with an Englishman and I'm hoping we stay friends. Gotten lost. Embaressed myself with very bad Czech while being lost. There's been lots of sink or swim moments, but I think it's in the hardest times when we learn the most and get stronger.
I uh, still don't have a job. Mainly because the past two weeks have been pretty dead in the working world here. People are hiring, they're just not around for the holidays. I just can't get ahold of anyone to get an interview set up because nobody is working. Welcome to the Czech Republic. Say what you will about Americans, lazy, wasteful, dumb, but we get shit done yo. They take so many holidays here and people pretty much work juuuuust enough to get on the government pension plan. And don't even get me started on their "customer service".
But I'm a guest here, and it's a beautiful historical kickass city. I really hope I land something soon so I can stay. I'm ready to have something certain and solid and be busy with a routine.
So just thought I'd check in, how is everybody?
