I got some new info from the school in Prague! There's an attachment with the first assignment and one all about the city. How to get phone service, good places to eat, popular bars and clubs. (There's about five pages devoted to bars and clubs.) Whoever wrote it rules because the tone of it pretty much has me in tears.
Seriously, there's directions like "Get off the tram and walk up the big-ass hill. It's on the left."
And, "not a bad club if you can handle the occasional dance-floor-drug-freak-out.".
"This mall is known for its disco escalator. Oh, you'll see."
"Guests not allowed in the housing we set you up with. If your freeloading friends want to crash with you during the course, find your own digs."
"Decent food, cheap beer, they'll never kick you out. What more do you want?".
"Surly bartenders, crap music. If you're right out of college it'll feel right at home."
"Cultural notes. Fanny packs: cool. Flip flops and socks: cool. Any hairstyle you can imagine: cool. PDA: cool. Not getting up for geezers on the tram: not cool."
The assignment is due during the second week of class. I'd better get started on it though. 30 questions of grammar. Most of which I'll have to look up. At the end it says "Congratulations, you're finished! Now memorize everything."
They also sent a list of my classmates (so far) with their e-mail addresses. There's only one dude (so far!). I have to fill out a little questionair so they'll pair me up with somebody cool. I've had several roommates though, so I think I'll be good. I get my own room, just in case they're a Super type A disenchanted with life hipster or something.
I'm getting so excited though! The excitement has kind of been pushed aside by stuff I'm currently busy with, the doubt any of this will actually happen, and terror. Excitement is coming to the surface though.
