Yoinked from
faninohio . I'm getting together with some married friends tonight that I haven't seen in forever. She's from Colorado and came to school here, but they live up there now. I blame myself for them getting together as I introduced them. :)
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Both, but I enjoy wrapping presents with paper.
2. Real tree or artificial?
Real at the parents', fake little one at my place.
3. When do you put up the tree?
The family tends to get one around the 15th or so. It's so dry here we don't have a big window where it'll stay nice and green and fresh.
4. When do you take the tree down? A few days after Christmas, maybe a week.
5. Do you like eggnog? Oh yeah.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? My little stuffed doggy I still have and sleep with. :)
7. Hardest person to buy for? My brother.
8. Easiest person to buy for? My dad.
9. Do you have a Nativity Scene?
My parents have this hilarious and cute one made out of fabric and stuffing. My mom made it eons ago and we still put it out.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Hmm, I dunno. My brother and sister-in-law tend to get me a trendy sweater I don't really like. Last year they got me a really cool retro coat though. But I don't think I'd ever complain about getting a gift. Unless it was like, a hate-gift. Like an animal head in a box or something.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
I have a lot but probably "Love Actually". Or the "Muppet's Christmas Carol".
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Whenever. I often buy people their Christmas or birthday presents when I see something that strikes me as "them". I hate going out and shopping for people without a clue.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Probably, I can't remember specifically.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Candy Canes.
16. Lights on the tree?
Yes, colored.
17. Favorite Christmas song?
"O' Holy Night".
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Usually at home but we're going to my Brother's this year.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?
Yes.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
It's always been a star at the parent's but I have a certain angel on mine at the apartment. ;)
21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning?
On Christmas morning. We always try to open just one on Christmas eve but my mom says weird, dramatic things like "Well, if you want to ruin Christmas go ahead!", etc.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
Crowds in the stores. I just need some laundry detergent dammit! And my mother gets really kind of frustrated. Which is understandable but I don't think she's realized that we're all grown ups and don't have these big expectations anymore. It's probably difficult with my dad around though, he is after all about 10 years old.
23. Favorite ornament, theme or color?
Just whatever. We have a variety of ones collected over the years at home. I think it's sad when people have a pretty, themed, cold tree with all the same ornaments. You gotta have the crap on there that everyone made in kindergarten and whatnot.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
My mom's homemade tortilla soup and tamales from whoever we buy them from. (My mom is from the Rio Grande Valley).
25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
Just some useful and not-so-useful stuff. Nothing big.
26. Who is most likely to respond to this?
Idk.
27. Do you go to A Christmas worship on the Eve, at Midnight, on the Day or not at all?
Sometimes, it's not a tradition or anything.
28. What's your favorite Christmas Memory?
This is also one of my earliest memories because I was really little. Me and my dad went to Wal-Mart for whatever reason and it was really cold out. The Salvation Army bell-ringer didn't have any gloves on and he was holding the bell with his hands all wrapped up in his coat sleeves. I don't know if it was my idea in a moment of childlike goodness or if it was my Dad's and he wanted to teach me about giving, but we bought him a pair of gloves along with our stuff. Dad let me give them to him outside and he was so happy and thankful. I've never forgotten that. ....*eyeroll* And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. ;)
29. What kind of outside lights do you put up?
My parents put up white hangy lights. More like, I put up white hangy lights at my parent's house.
30. Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Yes, Virginia. :)
