Book reccy time! I don't want to even talk about my work week. It's finals and students are selling back books and temps don't know what to do and my crazy effing co-worker only gets effing crazier when it's busy. So tired, but tonight I (finally) finished Shutter Island. I don't read a whole lot of mysteries. The beginnings are intriguing, the reveals are always fun, but things tend to slog along during the middle. This was pretty steady though. There's a constant creepy feeling. Along with the main character you don't know who to trust or what to believe. There's a little bit of funny and a lot of sad, and yeah the reveal is HYOOGE. It was pretty damn good and I'm super excited about the movie. The casting looks excellent.
Now I'm just waiting for the library to let me know about a couple of things I've got on hold. Movie-wise, I also can't wait for Sherlock Holmes! I think I'm skiping The Road movie though, it doesn't look anything like the book. The story has so little action and dialogue. It's mostly in the main character's head. Definitely not an exciting Viggo Mortenson / Charlize Theron blockbuster. I love Cormac McCarthy so much. The movie for No Country for Old Men was amazing, but while most of his books aren't really plotty they're still really substantial. The man can write a sentence about a horse drinking water that will bring tears to your eyes.
