Seriously, TLC or HGTV or Discovery Chanel needs to give me my own show in which I get stuff out of alleys and trash cans and turn it into cooler stuff with some sandpaper and spray paint. I have lots of experience doing this. It could come on right after Dirty Jobs and I could meet Mike Rowe at network parties and stuff. Anyway.
The other day whilst driving I happened to glance down an alley behind the Iglesia de Bautista. There was all kinds of cool stuff stacked up by the dumpster so I circled back around to investigate. There was a little side table thing with broken drawers and all kinds of nasty gunk on the top. I threw it in the truck. Then there were these fake-wood mediterranian looking...things. I threw them in the truck. Then there was a bookcase beyond saving and some broken glassware. I didn't throw them in the truck. I should've taken a picture of the side-table before hand because it was pretty gross. It took lots of sanding and scraping and cleaner to get it nice. Then I spray painted it. Viola.
Then I found these cute brown baskets at Wal-Mart that fit perfectly (there were lots of different sizes). So they'll serve as drawers instead of me having to make some. And I've since made a shelf for the bottom out of cardboard and more spray paint.
I don't know what these were made or used for, but they're kind of cool. Not actually carving, just pressed plastic or something. This was after a first coat of spray paint, they're all solid and shiny now. I'm either going to see if they're wide enough to fashion as a headboard and footboard, or attach them bottom to bottom and turn it on the side as a hanging headboard or put it over the fireplace or something. (shrugs).
