Moving on Up

Aug 05, 2008 01:02

I drove my uncle's truck up to Chicago Thursday with Simon and Mark. They helped me load it up as best we could, although I still have a lot of things to get up there, some how. I moved into my quaint and perfect apartment. Well, it would be perfect if it had central air. Anyways, it is really something to have my own place. I am excited for when my roommate Fefe comes. I take megabus back there Aug 9, so I am only back in Louisville for 3 days until I go to Cincinnatti to hang with my brother and catch the bus.

I also had an interview for Skinnycorp- the company that owns Threadless t-shirts. I hopefully will be making 10 and hour working in the warehouse which is just down the street from my new place. I feel so grown up.

James, Audrey, Doug, Mark and Simon all stayed the weekend for Lollapalooza. 3 days of a LOT of walking, standing, waiting, yelling, dancing, drinking, smoking, shitty food, and good shows. Standout performances were Jeff Tweedy at the kids stage, Grizzly Bear, Broken Social Scene and Wilco. I saw Radiohead too. They were incredible but I was so far away. The crowd difference from now to when I went in 2005 is insane. It has gotten so much bigger. I was really shocked.

This weekend really amped my summer up. I was happy to be in Louisville, but not going to lie- I have a goal not to come back here for over a week at a time. I just cannot take living at home. It really is not good for me. Makes me crazy. I am excited to spend the last of my summer in Chicago, but it is always sad and hard leaving Simon. The things I go through the first week or so after we have to say goodbye for a long time is the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. And it never gets easier. Which is the worst part about the whole thing. But lets just hope I can get all the things I need to do done and have a little fun for my last couple days in Kentucky.
