Seems the majority of Bush voters were swayed by nothing more than his support for so-called Christian moral values. The Kerry vote on the other hand was dominated by specific policy issues [domestic, Iraq etc] and those that were simply anti Bush. The march of the Evangelists goes on.
Another bunch who bother me are the anti-abortion lobby over there, a lot of them (on the lj communities at least) admit to voting Republican on the strength of that issue alone! Of course there's nothing wrong with killing already born children in Iraq, it's just the unborn ones that matter, aparrently. Ugh!
I had a bad feeling about this election from the start, for some reason. Like, although there's been a load of Kerry support flying around I just had this nasty feeling Bush would get in again. Shame it did turn out to be prophetic.
In most western countries approx 70% to 80% of those polled would have voted for Kerry. Unfortunately in America it dropped to approx 49%. In reality Bush actually increased his share of the popular vote on last time. Very worrying indeed especially as more people voted this time than ever before.

You're right, I believe that qualifies as taking the relationship a step further although I will no longer be able to look at another Republican without thinking of lubricants. In fact you may have highlighted the true nature of the relationship

I believe they might start taking it up the arse - after all they'll have lots of petroleum jelly! (no, I know it's not funny!)
