This guy seems to want to make things right. I'll be giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Pages like
this and
this kind of bug me. All I see is "
it's popular, now it sucks."
It should be noted that most of those fonts are overused because they're easy to read. Case in point: Papyrus. There is nothing inherently bad about that font; it's comprehensible while being a bit off-kilter. And yet, these sites call it "terrible," with the second going so far as to imply that it would only appeal to an "amateur," apparently just because everyone and their dog is using it on signs.
And an awesome character died-rather messily-in one of the webcomics that I follow. People immediately started making jokes about it.
But this is not a "what the hell?" at the fans: Normally, I'd say that the character was a
sacrificial lion, dying primarily to show how much of a threat that...abomination was. However, not only did he manage to take it with him, but
his death was ridiculously over-the-top awesome.
Let me explain: He was severely wounded. He was inconvenienced not only by his injuries (we're talking multiple amputations here), but by the fact that the monster's main attack is canonically agonizing. And he still managed to rip the damn thing's head off and taunt its corpse before he died. That's about as badass as it gets.
Props, by the way, to anyone who can actually name the comic.
