'Nother open letter to Blizzard, regarding Ji Firepaw

Apr 15, 2012 18:16

Someone found an NPC's dialogue with female characters in the pandaren starting area creepy, and complained about it.  I don't necessarily agree that it was creepy (just fatuous) but...fair enough.

You apparently agreed that it could be construed that way, and changed it.  Fair enough.

Now, some people are loudly demanding that the line be changed back-anyone who might have been disconcerted by it be damned.

I request this of you:  Before you consider reverting it, please take into consideration the phrasing of the initial complaints.  Compare and contrast that to the behavior and attitudes of the people complaining about the change.  And ask yourself: was the change for the best?

That is all for now.  (Well, that, and if you're going to be reverting anything to an earlier form?  Please, please start with female worgen.)

Personally, I wonder how many of the current complainers would be complaining just as loudly if Ji had become an equal-opportunity flirt.  Considering what I've seen in those threads-and in previous discussions-my guess would be "most of them."  (Considering many of them have made comparisons to the Dragon Age kerfuffle, it's amusing how much like "Bastal" some of them sound.)

fandumb, nerds are embarrassing, nerdrage, all wow forums are a bad joke
