There is not, as you put it, a "very big difference" between "fiction" and "literature."  The former is, in fact, a subcategory of the latter.  For example, the vast majority of what the word "literature" probably brings to mind?  You know, those turgid classics that everyone is expected to read, but no one actually wants

He seems to be trying to defend the Inheritance Cycle on the grounds that "it's not literature, it's fiction!"

Aside from that, I have no idea what the hell he's driveling about.  And he clearly doesn't, either.
