Oh, the hell with it...

Okay.  Looks like if I want cargo pants that aren't too baggy but don't look utterly derpy, I may have to just buy a pattern and make the damned things myself.  Because while I was considering going through MakeYourOwnJeans.com once that became feasible, I've seen enough negative reviews to be forced to conclude one of two things:

1) A tiny but loud contingent of dissatisfied customers is spamming their dissatisfaction all over the place; or:

2) MYOJ sucks oysters through a Silly Straw.

Oh, well.  Off to the fabric store to look at patterns tomorrow, I suppose.  In the meanwhile?  If I actually somehow manage to get my old job back (UNICRU can burn in hell) or manage to score the other one I'm shooting for, I don't know what I'm going to do for work pants.  (Hit the thrift stores in a vain hope of finding something marginally attractive, marginally practical, and in decent condition, most likely:  Everything new in my size is overpriced and oddly designed.)

...why can clothing manufacturers not understand that pockets are not just for show-and can, in fact, actually be useful if made large enough to actually put things in?  Or that "ultra-low" and "high" are not the only possible options for rise height?  Or that tapered pant legs look fucking silly?

Don't even get me started on capris, either.  Tangible evidence of evil, I say.

ETA: Did buy a pattern.  Ordered it online.  A McCall's that seems to be discontinued; wide-leg cargo slacks that should sit at my hips.

Now...I just need enough fabric (definitely black and khaki; possibly gray, sepia, and indigo as well; maybe something fun while I'm at it), enough thread (same colors or a subtle contrast), enough space, and enough time and patience.

clothing gripe, facepalm, rant, jobs, opinion, dammit!
