Great to hear! :) yeah, I agree that there have been many other questionable votes too. It mostly makes me feel bad because I've voted against icons I personally liked a lot in favor of some that were less appealing to me stylistically if I thought they had better technique. Like in many rounds I've really really wanted to give people points for creativity, composition and trying something different, but just couldn't vote for them or even had to vote against them because of technical things like sharpness or contrast. So idk it just seems silly for me to do that if others don't follow the same rules :| but hey this thing started soo long ago and even those few that read the voting guidelines have probably forgotten about them so for the next round maybe a small guide on objective voting that everyone needs to read (maybe find a keyword or something in it?) could work? and definitely not behind a link cause a lot of people don't bother clicking them, something in the direct context of the voting maybe.
the other option of course could be to allow subjective voting in general so that everyone knew it was okay, and didn't some people support that idea? I'm not sure about that since it would kinda make it less about 'the best iconmaker' and more about 'the icon maker with the most popular style', but I'll be fine with whatever you or the community decides - there should probably be a general discussion about it before the next round starts - as long as everyone's playing by the same rules, and yeah I'm still looking forward to the next round :)
Yeah I definitely don't think everyone has been on the same page regarding voting, unfortunately. I'm definitely going to have to think up some way to get people to actually read and try to understand the kind of voting that is useful in a competition like this. (I was half thinking about having some kind of way of having people prove they read it too!)
There might be a bit of a break after this round depending on how my RL moving situation goes. But I do plan on putting something up before the next round even starts and maybe a discussion will help people? I don't know? I guess I really overestimated the idea that people would click on links and read them (I click on almost everything)! So maybe if I use some examples that were received, or make up some of my own so people know what kind of votes are really not worthwhile. Thanks for understanding that things are kind of iffy this first round; it's my first time being mod of anything ever!
