Hoooo boy... Too many late nights playing computer games is -not- good for you xD
But yeah... Anyone out there remember the old microprose UFO / X-com games? The first one was ace... The second one was dissapointing... Finally, X-com apocalypse was pretty dire.
Well, browsing in GAME the other day, I found myself drawn to a particular title... UFO - Aftershock. Could it be that they were further continuing the series? I had heard that the whole project was mothballed a few years ago with X-com alliance.
As it turns out, the game is not of the classic microprose heritage... to the best of my knowledge, but it's a worthy pretender to the crown :3 Fantastic foreshadowing in the game too... It really does make you want to play one more mission... Just let the clock tick on a few minutes more... *Chuckles* Now I know what's actually heading my way in a little under six days time (gametime)... and on my trial run I beat the hell out of it with only two injuries (and neither of them serious)... This time I'll even remember to put ammunition in all of the guns and maybe I'll get through with no injuries xD
Yeah, I have that habit of playing on easy the first time through...
*Sighs* In other news, I'm probably gonna dump the teacher training thing... again.
I've been here before a year ago, jump through all the hoops they set, only to be refused and told what you need to do for a better chance next time around.
Irritatingly, my stumbling block this time around was experience... Irritating as the person in charge of admissions stated -specifically- that prior classroom experience was not needed before the interviews. So yeah... Basically, it'll be another year before I can try again, with no promise that I'll get a place then either. I need to work out something I can start building on now... Rather than waiting for someone to give me the thumbs up to start.
Oh well... Probably would have hated the paperwork anyhow.
It's been nearly a week since they informed me of the achillies heel in my application and I'm still pissed off about it. It wouldn't be too hard to get said classroom experience, but it basically means half a month's wages whilst I do it, and probably having to find another contract afterwards. I could afford it if I knew there was going to be a good chance I'd get the money back later, but yeah, I can't be sure of that... The downside of being a temp... Take a holiday, get replaced.
Bah... I've got other things to worry about.. Like the fact that my eyelids may have holes in 'em... Best give 'em a check...
