A quote springs to mind.
Scene: Marcus Cole standing in a room full of people who have been beaten to a bloody pulp upon attacking him as he tried to get some leads on where Delen had been taken. Delen's aide, Lenier arrives and is rather taken aback with the carnage.
Marcus: Bugger... Now I'm going to have to wait for someone to wake up.
Lenier: I see they trained you well back home.
Marcus: Yeah, well, they said I was carrying around a lot of repressed anger.
Lenier: And?
Marcus: ...I'm not repressed anymore.
Well, a few quotes, but only because Marcus was a great character xD
Have another.
"Wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us, come because actually deserve them? So now I take comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the Universe"
And one for good luck...
Susan Ivanova: Like hell. I am not letting them leave without saying 'yes'.
Marcus Cole: Really and how do you propose stopping them? Perhaps a big red and white sign with the word stop on it. Or I could put a bucket on my head and pretend to be the acient Vorlon god Booji.
Susan Ivanova: That's it!
Marcus Cole: ...Fine, I'll get a bucket.
Susan Ivanova: I meant the Vorlons.
Anyhow, yeah... Repressed anger... and releasing it.
I spent most of today pissed off. Mostly at the agency, but partly, again, because I let myself get pissed off.
Basically, that last job the agency sent me on was a bit of an eye opener. I really am getting some rather crappy jobs, as far as prospects go.
For a start, I seem to be getting -only- the lowest pay bracket that the agency offers, which I am not happy about, but secondly (and more importantly) it would seem that the agency has no intention of putting me forward for jobs in the sector I am trying to break in to. After telling them that (a) I really need a job that's a bit more of a challenge than the previous ones (four day contract, finished in two, followed by a five day contract finished in one) and (b) I really need a little more in the way of payment than has previously been offered.
Well, after stating both of those, I get a phone call from said agent with another job doing data entry for the same low low price.
I told them no thank you. When asked why not? I satated that I wanted one that paid better.
"But how can you expect better pay when you're not using your full skill set?"
... Now... Who's job is it to find a position to put the temp worker in where they can make use of their skill set? The agent? or the temp?
After stating, once again what I'm looking for, eventually, I am informed that... ready for those magic words?
"You lack experience."
My argument then went along the tangent that people are not born with experience, and given that accountants are not immortal, they need to recruit from some pool of people with little to no prior experience.
"Well, yes, they recruit people for junior roles, who then move up."
Bingo... That's what I'm looking for. Kindly find me one of those, and we're good to go.
"Oh no, we don't deal with those kinds of jobs."
... At which point I realised, I just need a new agent.
Simple as that.
Still... I'm trying not to dwell on it any more... Might be out of work for a while, but we shall see what turns up. I've saved a fair amount, good a time as any to use it.
In other (better) news :) Kim! I found somewhere willing to have a go at repairing my leather jacket :D At last!
A good kick around on counter strike: Source with Sang helped my mood immensely.
Oh, how I miss the days of having the LAN up in Sheffield :)
I'm nowhere near as good as I used to be... but at least I'm not terrible.
Tai chi was great fun too... looking forward to next week's.
