Initially, I didn't like the idea of a streaming video course. Firstly, the idea of anything streaming reminds me of Tony Hawk: Pro Skater for the N64. There is a level (in Canada) where an NPC is taking a leak, and as it freezes the character can be heard to say "Look, streaming yellow icicles!" Why they used streaming is beyond me, but I had to explain that part out.
The second reason I wasn't thrilled was because I like to be able to ask questions in real time. Yes, I can ask questions through e-mail and the discussion boards, but the visceral feel of a face to face lecture is just better for those types of situations.
But after watching the first hour of my Introduction to International Business class and taking the pretest, I'm going to get over my trepidations quickly. Why? I like being able to pause the professor in mid-sentence to take a phone call from my girlfriend and not be rude about it. I also found the pre-test rather easy (Which of the following countries has the second highest GDP: Austrailia, Japan, Ireland, or South Africa?).
But after I was done with my girlfriend, the streaming video wouldn't start back up again, and now it is saying there is a problem with the server. Not good. I have a quiz tomorrow and need to finish the last 40 minutes of the lecture.
I have found a way to download the iTunes version of the lecture, but it is incredibly slow and I have my marketing class in less than an hour. GO FASTER DAMN YOU!!!
