Noteworthy Shows

Jul 13, 2009 23:19

Due to a large amount of people asking me about any noteworthy/reccomendable shows (anime) that I know, I've decidded to create this post. It will probably be edited often, as I come across new shows a lot.

Level 1 (Shows that I'd never touch with a 10 and a half foot pole (again) and wish I never had)
  • Angelic Layer - The second anime that I ever came across. Really, I liked the show until ending, which made me realize how much this show made me want to rip my hair out and scream. I had to skip episodes (something I almost never do) because it got so tediously boring.

Level 4-7 (Shows that I'd totally make out with at a bar and maybe have a one-night stand with (7's occasionally may result in affairs))
  • Avatar the Last Airbender- I'm all for this series (an amazing combination on Korean animation and western writing) but I wish that A) Byrke had left out romance alltogether or B) made a believeable ending. The last 5 mintues made me face-palmx1000, and gave me a headache.
  • Gundam Wing A/C- This is a really, really cool series with excellent animation and characters....but I'm not really into shows that have shipping wars so fierce that people will gather 'round and chant "KILL _____" ( the name of the character that endangers thier ship) (Samr could be said for above)
  • Code Geass- I love this show, i really do. It lands at more of a 7-8. The reason that it's not in the top level is simple... A) See Above B) They killed off my favorite character. It pisses me off when they do that. Especially when said character is in love with another character and thier death derails the love(r).
  • Black Cat- Whoo boy. Honestly, same as Code Geass.
  • Ghost Hunt- a really, really cool series. The only thing ghost related that I've watched since I was 11 that hasn't managed to pop up in my night-terrors. Warning: This show suffers from mood bi-polarity. One minute it's totally scary and life-threatening, the next: funny and romantic/comendy-esque.
  • D-Gray-Man- This show is really, really cool and all...but for some reason it bores me at points. Though, I have to say, Lenalee is by far and above my favorite character of this show. The amount that she grows is astounding (plus she exhibits al forms of asskick-ary).
Level 8-10 (Show I'd totally marry and bare the kids for (though not be stay-at-home mom) which is saying a lot since I have no intentions of having kids and I'm not interested in marriage)
  • DNAngel- I'm requried to put this show first. Honestly, this was the very first show that I met (and immeditaly fell in love with Dark). I just adore this series to bits and I WISH THE MANGAKA WOULD STOP LEAVING THE SERIES IN CLIFFHANGERS!!!! I rate this show a 9.5 (probaby because I'm biased...)
  • Darker than  Black- HOOOLLLYYY Firck. I cannot list why I love this show much. I just adore Hei and have a total crush on him and the characters are all so real and have depth (heck, even the 'emotion-less' Dolls have depth!). I never thought that I'd like Huang (I actuallt despised him at first) but, after his arc, I was totally in tears and wanted to give the guy a hug. The Contracters are all so real (which is saying a lot, since they're people with super-powers). My only warning is that It's super dark (hmmm... title?) and bloody. I'd totally reccomend it to people who are mature and enjoy a good sci-fi. Also, do not expect the story to explain itself. It won't. Ever. It's one of those rare "smart people" shows that force the watcher to enterpret what the hell's going on. Also, the artwork. It just takes my breath away and I fall in love with Hei the story as it goes on. Also, there's going to be a second season, which is epic amazing, as maybe it will explain what went down in Heaven's Gate.
  • Air- Really, This show....it's just amazing. Being a bit of a scenery whore, I just fell in love with this show. It's so tragic and heartwarming at the same time (though, idiot that I am, it took me over a year to understand the kids at the end and what thier purpose was). I do not know a single person who remained dry-eyed through this anime. Those who do much have no soul.
  • Baccano!-  The only show that I know that can carry about 10 different plots in one episode. This is show really lives up to it's title (Baccano= Ruckus) and the characters! By God, I just love these characters! 50% of the cast is batshit insane, and the other half are either in the mafia or complete cuckoolanders! Icaac and Miria, for all thier idiocy, are hysterical. Firo kicks butt and face, and Luck Gandor is the master of all things cool and suave (he's mastered the art of tranquil fury). This show is so confusing, but I absolutally adore it.
  • Full Metal Panic!-  I just adore this show to bits, to the point that I'm not really sure why. (can be a bit of a cuckoolander herself). Kaname and I share a short fuse with violent endings, so I relate to her a lot. Really, though, I wish that Shouji Gatou-sensei would hurry up and finish the novels. I swear, of Sousuke and Kaname don't get a happy ending I may just kill someone. They deserve it, after all they've been through (and Sousuke needs to kick Leonard's ass).
