I Am An Island

Every person encounters stress in their life. Some common sources of stress include tests, family pressures, or work issues. In particular, part of the added stress in my life is dealing with people. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I just want to run away and be by myself. Therefore, in my opinion, it is very beneficial to spend time alone in order to cope with my problems. I have two reasons why I think this way.

The first reason why it's good to spend time away from others is that a major cause of my stress is related to people. For instance, I get very angry if someone bumps into me while I am walking around the city. What is their problem? Did they not see me? Why did they have to get in my way? My feeling about being in public is made worse by the fact that so many people walk so slowly. I really hate it when I am stuck behind a slow grandmother who will not get out of the way and let me pass her. To be fair, I am a very fast walker, but another person should be kind enough to let me get around him or her. Since these types of problems never happen when I am alone, I prefer being away from other people.

The second reason I prefer to be alone is because I can usually deal with my problem better myself than with another person's help. Most of the time other people don't truly understand my problems, so it can be easier just to deal with them on my own. I never ask for someone's advice, because I am self-sufficient enough to get by on my own. Other people will only get in my way and probably give me bad advice.

In conclusion, it is my opinion that it's best to spend time alone in order to cope with my problems. It may not work for everybody, but it certainly works for me.
