In my box, today:

a small card, folded white paper, 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. On the back, written in black pen--Lynn Joy Vollbrecht, at #1622. On the front the word Rain and some asian characters written on parchment. On the inside, a picture of rainclouds, and words cut out and pasted: "Twice a year the winds of tropical Asia reverse themselves, and the monsoons are upon the land, releasing the rain first over one area, then over another. The rain can go on for months on end. In some places, it converts desertlike stretches of land into seasonal oases of green, and in others, it pours down so fiercely that its fall can be more conveniently measured in feet than inches."

Who are these beautiful people that I know?

and why are they so good to me?

and, I love that last line--"it pours down so fiercely that its fall can be more conveniently measured in feet than inches."
