So after a week of training, I have concluded that this might well be the best summer ever and all of you should be jealous.  For those of you who don't know, I'm working at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids this summer, and shocker, my zoo is a thousand times better than any other zoo in the country, including Binder, and you guys all know how much I like giraffes.  In the last week I've petted and hand-fed sting rays (if you come after May 17th, you can too!), I've learned how to properly handle chickens, rabbits, chinchillas, tenrecs (look them up), and guinea fowl (they stink and I have an inch long gash in my arm to prove how sharp their claws are), and I also had a wood duck standing on my hand and I did all of this because I'm going to hold them while I stroll through the zoo and teach people about them.  In about 30 days we are getting baby pygmy goats and sheep (born less than a week ago!) and my coworkers and I are going to be working with them every day in a petting corral.  Not to mention all of the great people I'm going to be working with (for sarah:  do you remember the kid who hosted last laker standing last year?  yeah, I'm working with him and he is just as hilarious off-stage).

I know I'm a little bit of a dork, but I'm super excited about this summer.  The only downside is the 1hr 20min walk/ 40 min bike ride to work, but it is absolutely worth it.

On a bit of a side note, It Takes a Thief, the tv show on the discovery channel where they break into your house, steal your stuff, then give you a state of the art security system is the sexiest show on the planet.
