Fall of empires and ideals
Yeah yeah I know I am getting on my soapbox on the interwebs.
So this last week we have had icons of our culture die. Even if you don't like them or agree they have been part of the core of what the world sees and thinks when they think America.
Ed Mcmahon: From old late night reruns and giving out checks door to door. Ed is a man that any and every American knows who he is. Being the yes man to making the American dream com true to those that see him show up on there door step with a big check and balloons. These are the things he will be remembered for.
Farah Fawcett: If you were born before the 80's you remember her as a sex symbol. Both on the silver screen and TV. She was the introduction to manhood for many boys.
Michael Jackson: For decades he has made music and filled the tabloids with his stories. Proof that fame is not healthy and many of the flaws that our obsession with the famous can do. Good music odd life.
Billy Mays: Yeah yeah you will laugh at me about this but he to is an icon. An icon of need to buy shit we don't need. He made his life promoting all sort of odd things on TV and fairs.
Each one of these famous people shows a different part of our culture. Most not good ones but part of us none the less. We are a society of consumers. We like to be sex symbols and want to have our dreams come true. None of that is bad. What is though is hat we look at these things with out looking around us. Most of us ignore what is done. Why should we care even if we don't like it what can I do? Well that train of thought is killing us.
How you ask? Look to California this is the model the federal government is following. One of huge spending and sticking its fingers into places the government should not be. This is not a right wing left wing thing. No this is that we have created a new class in our nation. The political class. Those that there entire career is government. There life is this. They start small in most cases but there goal is not to help there fellow country men but to rule them. They are the new nobles. Trying to do just enough to keep them in office another term rather then doing what is best for the nation.
It goes back to our culture we see in one hand them as our Ed Mcmahons. Giving out that nice fat check to make out dreams come true. Well here is the hard pill to swallow with that check. That money is yours. It was taken out of your pocket and the pockets of everyone in the country. It is not free money it is like those checks you get from banks saying that you can use this right now but in fine print shows that it will cost you even more then what you think in fees and interest. Over time you become to think you are entitled to those checks. Well no you are stealing money from one pocket to give it to another. On top of that before that check is handed out all these little hand grab parts and pieces to full the larger government. In the end costing even more.
All this keeps a cycle of constant needs and care of those unable and not willing to do there share of work. Mostly the latter of the two. What happens when you have everybody on social programs for money and to live off of? Well for one the government will have full control over your life. You want to buy a car? Great you can choose only one of 4 that are built by the government and only if you really need it. You want a house done! To bad you don't get to choose what type or where it is. The government will make sure it is just what you need nothing more. You can see where this is going.
Ambition will be lost. What has made us a superpower and a place for many a place where if you work hard you can make your dreams come true. All this will be gone for the sake of making every thing "fare". So those that pay there taxes work hard and get pay raises will be punished for there hard work. So those people will leave. All that will be left are those with a hand out stretched for there check and food stamps.
But this is not our only problem we are hitting a double whammy. See at the same time we are using the worst of socialism in our government and its take over of our freedoms we have companies using loopholes to create monopolies and abuses of the system in place. Look up GM crops like soy. These crops are made so that when sprayed with a certain poison that they will not die and all other plants and bugs will. That is no so bad. Here is the issue. Because there is a patient on the crop anyplace that grows it does not own it. That soy bean the farmer grows and sells to market is not his and if some spread to another farm as well plants do. That farm is now in violation of patient laws and well yeah you can see what is going to happen. Yay litogation!
As a society we are fucked unless we change our ways. We are walking right into a rock and a hard place. We need to look to the banks, government and our fellow countrymen to stop. Stop bleeding us dry. Stop taking when you should be giving. Stop spending of shit we don't need or even really want. We have a responsiblity to not spend more then we make and if it looks like you can't afford the costs. Do some thing that sounds crazy. STOP SPENDING ON NON CRITICAL SHIT. I am looking at you California. It will hurt but you have to do it. Find out how much the costs for the things we really need cost and pay those first. If there is some left over then spend money on the fluffy crap. Raising the taxes and fees on every thing just makes it harder for those that live here to pay there bills. Putting those living on the edge already over and now you have to pay them to survive. Way to go California. The kicker is this is the model the federal government is following. Wow just fucking wow.
Oh and all of you getting pissed at Obama. He is not the problem he is just a tool of the machine we allow to control us. The figure head. Don't be surprised that he is not what you thought he was. Do the research look at who groomed him and what he has done in the past. He is no different then Clinton, Biden, Barney Frank, etc. They only difference is that he was packaged all shiney with an Iphone and not a long track record. This is not to bash him I think what he has done with the Iran issues has been correct. We need to not stick out fingers in every pot. Now if he would start doing the same thing here at home.
