Olympic Park
The day started out incrediby lazily. We didnt leave the hotel room untilmidday. and that was torture! after three people showering without the AC on our room was like the amazon! jeez and my hair never unfrizzed. i think that was the worst part. when we actually got out of the hotel room at like 12:30 it was all hot and sticky outside too. since there werent really any plans for the day we had wanted to go look at the shopping mall across the street from us. thought we could score some cheap clothes or something.
hehe no...that place was the mother of all freakin expensive and fugly clothed shopping malls. it was all middle aged woman stuff we werent interested in, yet we took all the 6 escalators up to browse..? mistake. anywho we went to go join the other peeps but unluckily they werent at home. oyy this part of the day was the most horrendous one! so sis got sick or something and kept saying she had this pain going through her stomach and i was just dizzy from the heat and sleep and what not and we couldnt find the rest of the family and we were just walking in circles for a while. simply not a good patch of time in history. but we eventually found the others in another huge shopping mall. this one actually had shops id heard of before. you know like the usual teen pop shops. blah. hah we had the hardest time trying to localize this really big supermarket. had some ok things. while both of us, sis and me, not feeling awesome it felt pretty icky to pick out junk from all this alien food thats packaged in such weird and not appetizing ways...
but anywho, moving on from the bad part of the day to the boring. we seriously didnt do anything all day. just hung out at their place waiting to go to the Olympic Park when it got dark so we could see it all lit up.
and yet again we ate western food for lunch because those frakken spoiled scottish cousins dont eat crap theyve never heard of. im getting really upset about the food situation, but really...when am i not. thats usually my major problem whenever i go anywhere. and the only reason i agreed to come on this trip (i know! how ungrateful do i sound! im in frickin china!) was to experience asian food from the source and eat a bunch of weird stuff. we havent even gone out to eat yet? i dont understand that at all...i hate doing all these fracking touristy things but noooo i cant have some freaking spring rolls!! at this point im mentally slapping myself for not doing anything about it. right now im sitting here wondering why the frak i havent just gone out and separated myself from the herd and bought myself a dumpling or something. i should get comfortable with the room service menu...
but me and sis did start to integrate with the cousins that are more accepting to change today though. played a whole bunch of cards, because thats the ice breaker in our family, and had the mandatory harry potter/twilight conversation :D i learned how to play hearts and rocked it!
finally it was time to leave and we made our way to the subway. 2 RBG to go pretty much anywhere on it. thats like nothing! considering what we pay for communal traffic at home! jeez. the slightly bad part is that there arent as many seats on the train though. theyre reminiscent of the english subways, but bigger and more plastic.
we stood up the entire way, which was a good half hour, and now im tired and my feet are paining me in an uncomfortable way because ive been walking in frickin flip flops the entire day. smooth going! lol so we get to the Olympic Park and its too early and light still so the lights arent lit up. we walk the entire thing one way and then a hint of light is beginning to show so we walk the entire way back again to see the buildings that are being lighted. theres this huge press building that changes color and a big blue box, which apparently was a swimming hall or something, further down this lengthy walkway. that walkway mustve been made by someone who hates people because it was sooo long and we didnt even finish it. feet killing me, back killing me, probably building up some nice blisters. rest of the peeps are tired too and its late and we're hungry. hahha i just know how freaking awful we are going to be when theres actual stuff planned for next week. half of it is probably not even going to get done.
but it was really pretty the way back to the subway and these little asian houses that were lit really pretty. made it look all...asian. all peaceful and yoga like.
lol but a funny thing did happen on the walk of hell! bwahah we were all posing for pictures. standing beside each other in a line. families, cousins, siblings, you name the combination we did it! and then we see people looking at us as. and then they take a picture! of us! standing there! people they dont know! omg like that wasnt weird enough hahahahah they come up all giggly, oh yea they were a bunch of chicks, and ask if they can take a pic with one of the scottish boy cousins! haha lol we all were like wtf? and he agreed and they posed and switched people and there were lots of pix taken at least. thats all i registered in between my laughing fits!
that was seriously all the excitement that evening out. on our way back i managed to score a seat on the train and almost fell asleep. we went back to their place and ate, wait for it.....sandwiches! though i did make a pretty fabulous sammich out of toast with airplane cheese and very suspicious ham slices. saw some bits of HP #5 while eating and then they all started about the new movie coming out. and apparently we are here when it releases so we might go see it, but im wondering. do they even show movies with english voices here?? i find that sort of hard to believe and im so not seeing anything in chinese! that would be horrid!
and even though i specifically instructed dad to excuse us before midnight tonight we still didnt leave until like 11:30. its not like we do anything over there anyways. just watch tv and eat. but when we got to the hotel room and going to bed there was some serious lightning and thunder going on! only problem was that i was actually trying to sleep, but otherwise it was awesome!
