...Do you people actually believe this?

Makers, and I thought the Mar and Precursor legends were overbearing.

[Pauses to clear his throat quietly.]

"There an angel of the Lord appeared to him from a burning bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire, but it was not burning up. 'This is strange!' he said to himself."

[Pause.]

...No, really?

[The proper derogatory term is "round eyes," Razer.

...Sorry, Batou.]

I doubt many actually believe in the literal circumstance of a talking, burning bush.

Regardless, there are five major religions and hundreds, possibly thousands of smaller ones.

[Oh Major, you're so funny.]

That...is extremely strange. Perhaps almost as much as someone believing that burning plantlife could be the manifestation of a god.

Where I come from, there is one religion. Just one. The thought of there being thousands is well beyond odd.

Some evolved from others...for instance, from the five largest, the piece you just cited is considered scriptural for three related religions, while two others are based on an entirely different source.

The major world civilizations were geographically isolated from one another for quite some time, and many religions evolved independently.

The three major cities--four including Far Drop, although it hardly counts--have also been extremely isolated from one another for quite some time. It did not warp the worldwide religion into anything other that what it has always been.

Hm...except perhaps for the Golden Order, but they have always been a bit fundamentalist. And as far as I can recall they still follow the same beliefs as everyone else, just a bit...sharper.

You only have four cities?

That might explain it.

Ah...it is more like three and a half. To be completely fair.

[Muses.]

Unless you add the two Marauder centers--the one up north and the one in the Wasteland. Then it is closer to...four and a half.

Well, there used to be more, supposedly, but these things happen when you are at war for centuries.
