[The comm comes on to silence, which lasts for a long second before Razer gives a low chuckle--closer to a sigh, really.]

...Completely worth it.

[The fact that he's found something of Razer's, and where he found it, is rather telling.]

Would you care to elaborate on that?

[[ooc: I was the one who claimed the boots, right?]]

Let's just say it's funny that, even with all the beasts in Carnival, it was the passenger I went in with that actually felt the need to...do some damage.

[You know who he went to Carni with, right?]

But that damage was well worth the events just prior.

[[ooc: You absolutely were~]]

[Phoenix frowns. He doesn't keep track of Razer's movements, but he does seem to recall hearing the man make a call to...]

Jak? [His brow furrows.] Why would Jak attack you?

By the way... I believe I have your boots.

[There's something about the way he says that, though, that says there more that he isn't saying.]

It's a very long story.

[Razer's tone is light, amused, even smug, but there's an edge to it that Phoenix will only have heard once before--during their fight for his goggles. That part of him that would sooner carve out your eyes than speak to you is officially in full force, and allowed to be that way for the first time in three months. Razer feels fantastic, and it shows.]

As for the boots...well, I assume I'm going to be preoccupied for a bit, what with the Commander being over, but I can come pick them up a little later?

[Phoenix feels as though he's missing a lot more than just this story. On top of that, there's something about what Razer just said, something about the tone of his voice, that isn't sitting well. He can't pin it down, though.]

Commander?

And... I'm not entirely certain you want your boots back, Razer. They were in a rather... unfortunate... location in my room.

I have since washed them, of course, but the fact remains...

[He trails off. How do you finish a sentence like that?]

Commander.

[Like that explains everything.]

I'll take them back one way or the other--I can almost guarantee they've been through worse.

Then do feel free to come by to retrieve them whenever you are ready.

[One of Phoenix's ears flicks back in mild annoyance.]

Are you going to specify which Commander this is?

How many commanders do we have on the ship, Phoenix?

Reply

ecopiracy March 14 2010, 05:26:23 UTC
I know of only one.

[He doesn't think Razer is referring to Erol, though.]

But that does not mean that there are not others on board this ship.

I don't believe there are any others aboard. Or if there are, I haven't met them. Or even heard of them, for that matter.

...why is Erol in your room?

Because apparently seeing me die shook him up almost as much as when I had to practically leash him up as a cyborg, and now he wants to screw me into the wall or something. He isn't particular sentimental, but that is saying quite a lot.

He'll get over it eventually, of course.

[Façade dropped. Have fun with that.]

Now, when would you be available for me to come pick up my boots?

[Too sudden and with too little warning, Razer. Phoenix cannot believe you mean that precisely as you just said. The perceived facetiousness earns a humorless quirk of his lips.]

A pity you did not follow through with that leash. That would have been interesting to see.

I am currently in my room right now, but if that is not convenient, I shall also be here this evening, barring anything unforeseen.

I kept watch of him in his room for the better part of the weekend--I didn't even sleep. Close enough to having a leash, I suppose.

[Still cheerful and comfortable and totally, completely serious.]

I'll be by to see you this evening, then.

[Phoenix still doesn't believe him. It's going to be... interesting, to say the least, when he realizes just how serious Razer is.]

I'll have your boots waiting.

Good day, Razer.

[And so, a number of hours later, Razer shows up on Phoenix's doorstep. He's still barefoot, simply because he's never really gone looking for extra shoes, but at least now his shirt is buttoned up most of the way.

He knocks, then pulls back to take a drag on his cigarette, free hand perched on his hip, and waits.]
