Capitalism is the Institution of Ethics

On the first weekend of April, I attended the Spring 2005 Convention of Libertarian International, in Sofia, Bulgaria, as organized by the Bulgarian Society for Individual Liberty. I was a speaker, and my speech was about Capitalism as the Institution of Ethics. The notes for my speech are now available on my web site.

There were a bit over two scores of libertarians attending. Not a lot of them indeed, but all of them very interesting people, and I learnt quite a lot, on many levels, by interacting with them. Plus I made many new pals. (Hi, Boj!) Interestingly, all the east-european students who attended were girls (and quite attractive girls, at that), whereas most of the older attendees where males. Where are the БОИС boys? All gone to the US? (Boj, you're late!)

The alpha male was definitely Stefan Metzeler. He improvised a very interesting speech was about Jungian Typology (MBTI) and its implication for communicating effectively, and for advancing the philosophy of Liberty in particular (a topic I had only touched in my 2002 speech Reason And Passion: How To Be A Convincing Libertarian -- sorry, draft only). He also knew all the places to go out in Sofia, and took us to a very nice night club, Swinging Hall. Once more, I learnt a lot from him, on many levels. I paid him back by hacking the cord of his laptop computer to replace the swiss plug with a EU plug. He's the swiss guy, but I was the one who hadn't left behind my Cybertool!
