Much Ado About Nothing - A Review
In my opinion ths Shakespeare play is a semi-tragical comedy, in that bad things happen, but that there is a happy ending for everyone except the villian.

At its core Much Ado About Nothing is about 2 pairs of couples. Claudio and Hero, and Benedick and Beatrice. The 2 couples have very different experiences in the course of the play.
Claudio woos Hero and is misled into thinking that she commits infidelity, by the machinations of the villain.
Whereas Benedick and Beatrice are old friends who have constant arguements. They are more innocently tricked into thinking that each loves the other, and eventually realise that they do, in fact, love each other. Although they realise they had been set up.
Both of these threads are done really well, for the maximum dramatic impact.

An additional comedic element is that of the City watch, with bumbling and malapropisms causing misunderstandings.
Shakespeare was either at his best, or close to it, when he wrote this play. I give it a 9/10.
