Merry Christmas

Church notes - December 2016
4 December
Communion
Isaiah 10, 11

Luke 8:22 - 25
The Disciples were more afraid of Jesus than the storm, once it had been commanded to stop.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God.
None other than God Himself.
Where is your faith?
Always ask 'Who is Jesus?' first. Everything else follows. You will see the Bible as more than a rulebook.
Being Christian is is about what Jesus has done for us. Our faith is in Jesus alone.
Where is your faith?

The Christ Powered Life
Romans 8: 28 - 39
We Are More Than Conquerers
The world is uncertain. But in Christ we are in a secure position.
God works
He is working all around us, in all aspects of our lives.
He works for the good of those who love Him.
- His priority isn't our comfort, but our character development.
Who have been been called according to His Purpose
vs 29
God has decided that He would mould us to be more like Jesus.
God is for us. We may feel insecure in our faith, but the cross isn't fragile. We can't sin so much that God can't forgive us. What Jesus has done can't be undone.
The questions that Paul asks have no answer.
If God is with us, who can be against us?
There is no power that can overcome us spiritually that has more power than Christ.
It was always God's idea for Jesus to go to the Cross. He has given us the most precious gift.
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen.
God is He who justifies
Who is He that condemns?
Christ Jesus is he who is interceding for us
Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.

Gifts of Christmas
Hope
Luke 1:46 - 55
Isaiah 7:1 - 16
Gift of Hope
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul
For some, Christmas is a duty, not a delight.

Isaiah 7:1 - 17
We need to put our hope in Him, rather than in any human solution. Ahaz chose the latter. He didn't take a step of faith.

Isaiah 7:14
An immediate answer - the situation that Ahaz was worried about would be gone.

Matthew 1:23
God is beside us in hard times.

A hope that is yet to be completed. He will come again. God's ultimate work will be achieved.
He will achieve His work in you and the world. We can be confident as we look to His Return.

For the Present, we have hope as an anchor in the storms of life.
For the Future, hope of Jesus' return. His rule will bring justice and righteousness.

Luke 1:26 - 38
It took faith for Mary to respond to God's plan for her. Jesus' coming changes everything.
The anchor allows us to move forward in faith.

Don't leave the gift of hope unwrapped.
