Single Greatest Night of My Life

So, where were you on election night?

I was at the National Press Club drinking martinis with journalists from the NY Times and the Washington Post and such.

I was eating crab cakes watching the news and screaming my lungs out every time my guy won a state.

I took a break from the TV to go watch Ralph Nader (wtf?) speak. Then, while I was in the room, I heard screaming.

I just thought we had won another state. But, no.

We won the election.

I cried. Oh man, I could barely talk to all the people calling me. I hugged my friends and some strangers as we bought our final drinks of the night at toasted to victory!

Then we SPRINTED to the White House, cheering at every car that honked with signs hanging out of the windows, high five-ing people we didn't know, even hugging some of them.

The White House was MADNESS. It was awesome. "O-BAM-A" "Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye." "No More Bush" "U-S-A"

My personal favorite was "YES WE DID."

I stayed out on the streets until about 3 or 4 am. It still hadn't calmed down at that point. I could still hear the cars honking and the people cheering on the street from my apartment.

I called EVERYONE I knew. My mom was in tears, my dad was happy, my sister was jealous that I went to the white house, all of my best friends from home were ECSTATIC . Oh man, I can't even describe that feeling.

Now my voice is shot and my head is pounding from all the screaming. My legs are sore from running. But none of that really matters.

Nov. 4, 2008 will go down not only in the history books but in my memory. As the GREATEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE.

(now if only i didn't have to ruin it by going to class today. ah well)

family, presidential election, friends, life, greatest night ever, politics, happy, excited!
