Glorfindel and Elrohir walked to the dining hall for breakfast. It had taken everything they had not to knock on Erestor’s door as they past. Just the night before their ion, Laurelion, had celebrated his majority and as was tradition and his right, Laurelion had shared himself with his love, his soul mate, Erestor.
“He is fine, Meleth,” Glorfindel said, trying to assure his husband.
“I know; I was just worried about Erestor.” Elrohir chuckled.
Inside Erestor’s room the lover’s lay in bed. The smell of their passion permeated the room. Erestor was in the process of making his way down Laurelion’s back with his lips and tongue.
“You are delectable,” he purred. “I think I will never tire of this.”
Laurelion writhed with each new place Erestor explored. “I hope not, for I will never tire of you.”
Many years later…
Erestor and Laurelion sat in the Hall of Fire along with many of the inhabitants of the Last Homely House. Earlier in the evening there had been a celebration of Erestor’s begetting day, a wonderful dinner of his favorites was served, and many presents from his friends were opened. Now they were all a little tipsy, lounging in front of the large fireplace, and listening to Lindir sing.
Laurelion looked at his fathers; they both gave him an encouraging look and nodded. He took a deep breath and slid off the chair and to his knees in front of Erestor.
“Meleth, are you well?” Erestor asked.
“I am,” Laurelion answered. He took out a pouch from his tunic and took a deep breath. Everyone’s attention was now on the couple. “Erestor, I love you.” His voice trembled. “I would like to ask you to marry me.” He looked up at his very surprised love. “Will you, Erestor. Will you make me eternally happy by becoming my husband?
Not a sound could be heard in the hall except the crackling of the fire. Everyone sat n the edge of their seats as the silence continued.
Tears filled Erestor’s eyes as he looked at the gold betrothal rings in Laurelion’s hand. He had the answer but could not make his voice work. Cupping Laurelion’s face he smiled, nodded and then yelped as he was grabbed and pulled onto the floor with his beloved. The rest of the elves in the room cheered as the now engaged couple kissed, celebrating their love.
“I love you,” Erestor whispered to Laurelion.
“I love you too.”
12 months later...
“I am so sorry, Laurelion, truly I am.”
“Do not be silly, Merilaer, you cannot help it. When an elfling is ready to be born it is coming no matter what else is going on,” Laurelion said trying to reassure his cousin that her going into labor during his wedding ceremony was not a problem.
When she had cried out during the ceremony and is was evident what was happening, Elrond had quickly finished the vows and blessed the union as Merilaer was being carried to the healing wing. Now the older elves were all pacing, shouting and wringing their hands, making the elleth even more nervous. Thankfully, Laurelion was by her side and keeping her calm.
“When Tuanu gets back from patrol I will skin him,” Elladan said as Merilaer cried out with another contraction.
“Ada, please,” Merilaer cried from the bed.
“He did this to you.” Her father stepped closer to the bed as Gwirith tried to calm him.
“Elladan, he did not do this to her. They are married.” His wife tried to calm him.
“He did this to her and then just left.”
“He is on patrol!” Merilaer yelled.
“Enough!” Laurelion shouted at all the others in the room. “Out, all of you. Get out!” he said pointing to the door.
“I will not…” Elladan sputtered before Laurelion took him by the arm and pushed him to the door.
“Oh yes you will. Can you not see you are making it worse for her? Tuanu is her husband and she loves him. He did not DO this to her. Their love created this wonderful elfling that is about to enter our lives. You are not helping, so get out. I will come and tell you when your grandchild is born.”
Gwirith wanted to stay with her daughter but she knew Elladan was going to be more than a handful. “I love you, Sweet one. Be brave and if you need me I will just be outside tying your father to a chair.” Gwirith winked and kissed her daughter.
“Thank you, Nana. I will be fine. Did someone go to tell Tuanu what is happening?”
“Yes, Glorfindel is on his way. He will bring him back.” She turned to Laurelion. “Thank you, Laurelion.” She kissed his cheek and left, cringing as another contraction came upon her daughter.
A few hours later Glorfindel and Tuanu came running into the healing wing. As he came around the corner, Gwirith pointed to the door and Tuanu ran into the room. Laurelion wiped Merilaer’s brow as she began to push.
“Meleth, I am here,” Tuanu said as he knelt by the bed.
“Just in time too. You child will be here with the next push,” Elrond said. “Big push this time, sweet one. I am ready to see my great grandchild.” He smiled.
Elladan paced, a scowl on his face. Gwirith had felt him tense when Tuanu came into view and she had tightened her grip so he could not lunge at the frazzled ellon who loved their daughter dearly.
“What is taking so long?” Elladan walked to the door and stopped when the cry of a newborn could be heard. He stood still for a moment and the turned to the rest of the room, tears fell down his cheeks.
Elrohir hugged his brother. “Congratulations, Tor.”
Elladan walked over to his wife who had begun to cry. “We are grandparents, Meleth.”
Laurelion came out of the room. “They have a son.” He announced. Smiling, everyone quietly made their way into the room to welcome the newest addition to their family.
Erestor embraced his new husband. “You look tired,” he said, rubbing Laurelion’s back.
“It was amazing, Erestor, so amazing.”
“I know. I was there when your father and uncle were born.” He could tell how exhausted and overwhelmed Laurelion was. “Come, my husband, let me care for you tonight.”
“Oh no!” Laurelion stopped, looking into his husband’s eyes. “This is our wedding night. I am sorry, Erestor, I did not think…Merilaer was so scared and…” Erestor stopped his words with a kiss.
“Shhh…we have an eternity of wedding nights to celebrate our marriage.”
Laurelion knew at that moment he was the most blessed ellyn to have such a loving and understanding husband as Erestor. He let his husband led him to their room and gave himself over into his care.
