Updates #25

Feb 28, 2008 02:01

31 Jan--There's a naga loose in the village. (Entire thread, 133 comments.) Faramir ends up joining the mayhem, thinking there's a new arrival in the alley. Nope. I hate it when that happens.

1 Feb--Faramir and Sophie go on their first date since Faramir's screw up. It goes well enough but things are very awkward.

2 Feb--The tunnels under the theatre are bricked up. (Entire, 220 tags.) Faramir comes to help and is consigned to light work detail because of his arm injury. Also, Boromir meets Bob.

4 Feb--Meets Hannibal Lecter Dr. Fell, who has heard the rumours and so 'knows' who Faramir is. He's also read the book. Faramir is surprised to find a doctor who runs a restaurant but he will consider taking Sophie there. Discussion of people wanting to feel superior merges into discussion on morality and Faramir's lapse.

5 Feb--Comes upon Garak practicing with a weapon he's never seen before in the park. Garak is angry about the whole Glaurnaneth debacle because so many humans are angry with her for doing something that they consider immoral though she does not--and surely they are right and she is wrong. Faramir is familiar with this concept. Glaurnaneth acted naturally for her. He did things he knew were wrong (for him.)

6 Feb--Goes to the forest with Glaurnaneth for the arrival of egg and its transport to the hotel asap so it can stay warm.

8 Feb--The arrival of Sawyer, who comes from a point in canon where he (and others) were being held captive. So he's gone from tropical island to the middle of the street in wintertime, tied and on his knees. Faramir can sort of relate. Sawyer is understandably leery of help offered but Faramir is persistent and makes sure he's safe at the hotel.

8 Feb--Meets Sugar in the library. She's giggling over romance novels. He ends up telling her that he and Boromir are not speaking--he thought she knew.

14 Feb--2 a.m. Faramir has had a nightmare and goes to the roof of the hotel because he can't sleep. Glaurnaneth comes in for a landing. They speak. He had been concerned that she no longer needed him after the egg got to her room. She assures this is not so. Is joined by Richard. Faramir didn't know that Bob had bitched out Glaurnaneth. He also saw that she's cursed. Richard gives him the few details he has. Faramir tells Richard that he is not the Faramir in the book. He doesn't know that Faramir, but he's not a character, just a person. He feels like people who have read the book compare him with the character and he is found wanting, as he is when compared with Boromir. Ends up all sappy with the 'like brothers' manly man affection.

14 Feb-- Aphrodite arrives and decorates for Valentine's day--red, white, and pink roses everywhere. Faramir is properly impressed that she is the goddess of love and beauty and somewhat amazed that her attire doesn't throw him more. He informs that Xena and Co. are in the village (he's heard of Aphrodite through them) and learns that Hercules is her half brother. She approves of him because he's properly polite and flattering. He's just being decent and respectful.

14 Feb--While doing his Valentine's Day shopping, encounters Lara Raith, the vampire succubus. They talk a bit and she is incredibly interested in Middle Earth as a feeding ground. Particularly Henneth Annun, where the men go for months without seeing a woman. She understands politics and marrying for duty and is interested in history. When Lara sends her lust his way, he does react a little bit, though it's a lot like when he saw Death on the island. He thought she was lovely (PB for Death was Liv Tyler, BTW) but it made him uncomfortable to think it. He's got those sex issues again, beyond repression. Some discussion of gender roles, specifically related to soldiering and politics. [Actually, they have a lot in common and I could see them being buds if not for the whole vampire thing.]

14 Feb-- Date with Sophie. Despite a miserable case of nerves, this goes much better than the last date. The restaurant provides a view down a mountain and they have more to talk about. Faramir's small gifts go over well--he didn't want to get anything too large. They end up with FTB back at Sophie's for sitting on couch being cute and minor smooches.
