18 Jan--Meets
Cybil Bennett who is out washing her motorcycle. Gets a ride on it. It's loud but she doesn't go to fast and is a good time. Helps finish the cleaning job afterward.
18 Jan--Hears shouting in the park and comes to the aid (sort of) of
Arthur Dent, who is set upon by the talking duck. Faramir is amazed by the talking and less shocked than he might be at Arthur's walking around in his robe. No connections made yet as to who Arthur's former companions are (which would explain a lot of his weirdness, since Faramir's opinion of Zaphod from the island is... yeah) but he does find out that Dr. Koscuisko is in Haurvatat. This marks the beginning of Faramir's quests to the park to find the talking duck(s).
18 Jan--Sees
Christian Markelli in the hotel lobby. Christian's bummed because of the cold--it was warm where he came from. Short but civil conversation that includes mention of keeping hotel rooms overly warm (for different reasons) and Boromir's snoring.
19 Jan--Returning home from work late at night, sees
Sophie, who cannot sleep and is working on a cryptex. Faramir is intrigued with it and her work though they agree that it's a conversation for an earlier hour. Mentions the Dreamless Sleep he'll be buying soon and that Boromir is now keeping vigil over him. Declines to borrow money from her. He escorts her back to the hotel, being polite.
20 Jan--Long conversation with
Xena while she's fishing in the lake and after. Faramir declines to go hand-fishing at this time but does accept a fish for dinner. He makes a fire so it will be ready when she comes out of the water. Tries to ignore the fact that she's obviously female and concentrate on the similarities. They talk a bit about her friends (he wants to meet Gabrielle very much) and the rangers. Faramir is forced to explain just why the rangers can't/won't separate from the regular army of Gondor *cough*. They bond over sibling love and wonder about the purpose of the village, if their is one. Fate and its changeability. The possibility of redemtion. A lot of stuff. Faramir is reminded of Richard in Xena--she had an opportunity to change for the better and took it.
23 Jan--
Has a nightmare. 23 Jan--Sees
Wesley Wyndam-Price appear from nowhere. Is still new himself but greets the newcomer and is somewhat surprised at Wesley's apparent calm. Well, not everyone is unused to weird things. Does escort him to the hotel, despite Wesley's relative unconcern for the change in weather from LA to Haurvatat.
(Yeah, England is not the toastiest.)
23 Jan--Faramir goes out walking and is viciously attacked with a snowball thrown by
his own brother. Faramir learns his brother has met Merlin. He's heard the name through reading the Harry Potter books and is amazed. Shocks Boromir by stuffing snow down his back (waited for it...) and brotherly hijinks ensue. Faramir mentions that he needs to start training again due to being a wuss at this point for all his time spent in the compound. Boromir mentions running and Faramir is weirded, knowing Koscuisko is in the village--he's not told Boromir about it. Bur Boromir didn't seen him running, was Shane. Faramir also hasn't mentioned that Richard is in town because it isn't his best friend but someone who wants to be called William Johns. They return to hotel in bubble of normalcy then Faramir flips out. A solid smack sends him into fighting mode. Boromir calms him and he's better for now.
By the dojo, he meets
Gabrielle. Both being talkers, they go through a few topics, including Xena and how she changed. Sauron and how he has no heart to change. Writing (they don't really get into that) and some other things including the very beginning of his Issues. She's going to teach him meditation and yoga. He's also pleased to learn about her fiance, Iolaus, and the story she's writing for him as a betrothal gift. This is fascinating to him. He'll leave a note after he gets some sleep and they can start the meditation lessons.
23 Jan--Sees
Polgara in a tree. Doesn't wish to wake and they exchange politenesses for a while. Begin to speak of duty and things--she's much older than she looks. Faramir doesn't know the words 'witch' and 'wizard' are offensive to her. (Unfinished, likely due to Pol's threads with Wednesday of significant plotness.)
25 Jan--Quick-n-dirty thread with
Draco in which Faramir finally has been paid and buys his potion. Oh yeah.
Gets some sleep at long last. 27 Jan--Sees Richard
William Johns up in a tree this time. William wants to know what Faramir knows, which isn't much. Richard didn't talk a lot about his 'verse. William learns that he had friends where Faramir came from. Faramir is surprised to find himself jealous that more people missed Richard when he disappeared than gave a crap that he himself died. William senses the upset and would buy Faramir a drink except that he doesn't seem the club type. Faramir, not even knowing anything about the club, must agree. There's uncomfortable awkwardness all round then William goes to work.
29 Jan--Sees
Jackrabbit, who is dancing in the street. They talk about various things, similarities and differences. They both met Cybil and rode on the motorcycle. This melds into discussion of gender and the fact that there really is no difference where Jackrabbit comes from. They both serve their people because it's necessary. (Again with the being more alike despite such obvious cultural differences. Unfinished.)
30 Jan--Third person sitting in a tree. This one is
Wednesday, and he's got his ravens with him. They talk. Faramir gives his duck bread to them and learns that Wednesday is a god. He's more subdued than normal because of this, not wanting to annoy Wednesday. There's a bit of discussion about gods and their power, how they cannot exist without their stories. Melds into a discussion of Faramir's death and that Wednesday himself has died--sacrificed himself more than once. Moody Faramir died uselessly and nearly panics when he fears he's insulted Wednesday by calling his son useless. Ends up having to explain that he's the useless one, according to his own father, and pardon me for implying... Wednesday is not upset and actually seems pleased with Faramir. Wishes to hear stories of Arda. Faramir is amazed but thinks he's actually serious. He will be seeking Norse legends at the library now, being the curious person he is.
