Friends with Benefits
Ninomiya ‘Nino’ Kazunari felt grateful that he was given another chance to breathe again. A day ago, he collapsed in front of his childhood home because of his sickness. Frankly, he didn’t think that he would survive. But, he underwent an operation and he was saved. It may not be for long, though.
He had woken up a few hours earlier. Juno was with him. His assistant was the one who explained to him what happened after he collapsed and during the surgery. The man was not here this time. But, it didn’t mean Nino was alone in the room. Someone was holding his hand and Nino knew who the owner was. It belonged to Ohno Satoshi, a lawyer who had been flirting with him for quite some time.
They met in a casino where Ohno had placed a bet in order to get a date with Nino. The lawyer won the bet but Nino didn’t honor his promise, which led to Ohno tracking him in the hospital. After weeks of chasing, Nino finally decided to give the man a chance and go out on a date with Ohno. It was a nice date and Nino decided to keep the man around as his friend with benefits.
“Hey, you’re awake,” said Ohno, raising his head from the bed. “How do you feel, lovely?”
“Geez,” responded Nino, pretending to be annoyed. “When are you going to stop calling me that?”
“When you stop looking so lovely,” answered Ohno. “But, I think you will always look so lovely so I won’t stop,”
Nino stuck his tongue out at Ohno and then gestured for the man to get on the bed beside him. The lawyer immediately complied. Once Ohno was beside him, Nino put his head on the man’s shoulder.
“Ne, lovely…” said Ohno as he squeezed their interlocking hands. “Is everything okay? Do you feel better after the operation? If not, I won’t hesitate to help you with the lawsuit for the hospital,”
Nino chuckled in return. It was nice to be around Ohno. For a while, it helped him forget about his health problems. He knew the operation wasn’t enough to save him. Before long, he would be gone from this world. But, he was happy to have Ohno and Juno in his short life.
As if the other doctor knew he was in Nino’s mind, someone knocked on the door and opened it, revealing Juno. Juno’s eyes grew wide upon seeing the two of them together on the bed.
“Ninomiya-sensei…” said Juno. The man scratched his head as if he didn’t know what to say next. “Ah… hmmm… I don’t think Ohno-san…”
“Juno, it will be okay,” said Nino, cutting the other man off. “I want him next to me,”
Ohno smiled in return. “I’m thirsty. I will go and get a drink. Do you want anything, lovely?”
“Just get back quickly,” said Nino. “I want to snuggle with you,”
“Okay, lovely,” Before he left, he put a kiss on Nino’s cheeks. Nino wanted to laugh when he noticed how Juno looked away. His face was red.
“So, you and Ohno-san…”
“We’re just friends with benefits,” once again, he cut the other man off.
“What do you mean?” Asked Juno, looking confused. “He snuggled with you. I don’t think he is just a friend with benefits,”
“Of course he is!” Responded Nino. “There is a benefit for both of us, okay! If he gets sick, I will treat him for free. If I get sued again, he will be my lawyer for free. See, benefits!”
Juno blinked his eyes a few times, looking dumbfounded with his explanation. “Ninomiya-sensei, that is not what friends with benefits mean. When you say someone is your…”
His assistant didn’t get the chance to finish when Ohno entered the room again, carrying two bottles. Nino only chuckled in return. Of course he knew what friends with benefits mean. But, that was not the nature of his relationship with Ohno. They hadn’t done anything yet. Only kiss for now.
“I want to rest,” He told Juno. “Can you leave us alone, Juno?”
Juno let out a sigh and then left. Ohno smiled at him before getting back on the bed with him.
“Everything okay?” Asked Ohno.
“Yes,” answered Nino. “Ne, Ohchan, we will have to say goodbye to each other soon,”
“Why?”
“I want to go back to Australia,”
“Oh,”
“I will not come back to Japan,”
“Oh. It’s okay,” said Ohno, looking indifferent. It was painful to see that Ohno was not affected by his decision. “I will come with you,”
Nino’s eyes grew wide. He couldn’t believe his ears.
“Are you sure?”
“Of course,” The smile on Ohno’s face was enough to convince Nino that the man was serious. And, he was grateful for it.
A/N: So, Black Pean Season 2 is over. The ending was so sad. I miss Amagi.
A few weeks before the final episode, I had a dream that Satoshi was in the last episode. Seeing how lonely Amagi was in the end, I decided to write my own version of the ending. Hoping that we will get the third season and Arashi will be back from hiatus because I miss them so much.
