Did he write you up for 18 over? Or only 5 over? Because I just got written up for 5 over (when I was doing quite a bit more than that) in Pennsylvania, and I'm pretty sure in Michigan if you're only 5 over on the freeway it's no points. Atleast that's what little Adam said, and he's gotten 5 over on the freeway.

Tickets suck, mine is $124.50. I feel your pain.
