Well, I've been away from LJ for a while.
I got caught up in the Tour de France and was surprised how exhausted *I* was by the end of the three weeks. And I was only watching it. I've also been busy at work, mainly serving on the planning committee for a professional development conference, working at the conference, attending the conference. Went roller coaster riding with friends last Sunday after watching the animals and the house for sister on Saturday. I was in Sacramento yesterday for an all-day training session for the stewards of our union. The Spring application cycle started yesterday. And we're finally cooling off after a long heatwave that just sapped all the energy out of me.
I was wondering what I'd talk about in this post over a week after my last post.
I've got news! We had an
earthquake a few minutes ago. As you can see it was a mild one, a 4.4. The local news had no reports yet of injuries or major damage. Thank goodness!
We're all fine. I called my sister and they were okay at their house. It was more exciting, than frightening. Then again, we live in an area with a lot of seismic activity. Once in a while we have one that gets our attention, like this one. It was a rolling kind of quake and it lasted maybe 15 to 20 seconds, a long one.
In other news I read that Viggo is going to do a new movie called "Appaloosa". Ed Harris, one of Vig's co-stars in "A History of Violence", is going to direct and star in the movie. And Diane Lane, who co-starred with Viggo in "A Walk On the Moon" is also attached to the project. My housemate, Mira, tells me that the Internet Movie Database has only scant info on the film, but says that the story is about two friends who are appointed to protect a town. Having seen the on-screen chemistry that Viggo has had with both Harris and Lane, this is going to be a great movie to watch based on that alone! Talk about tremors.
The new James Bond film, "Casino Royale", wrapped up principle photography last week and is now in post-production. Little by little interviews with Mads have been surfacing and I've been trying to keep up with them. A person named Yarborough has a blog on the official CR website. There's a link for readers to send Yarborough questions about the filming and behind-the-scenes stuff. I sent in a couple questions asking when we might see news about Mads or his character, Le Chiffre. Well this week's Back to Prague post is about Mads and Yarborough mentioned me by name and
even quoted me! It was a dizzy, fangirl moment for me.
Gee, I guess there's plenty going on here after all. And tomorrow's another day. Gotta rest up!
