Summary: There is nothing there.

there is nothing there.
it is blank and it is everything and it
is nothing.
they are nothing together.
one touches minds
and the other hasn't a mind-
one jolts and spasms
while the other sleeps;
and yet they preserve
as a fagot
and a structure of a man with too much skin stretched
and yanked over too much a body:
and this is what the two
are:
just two dying men-
a skinnyskinny man
an old, deathly old man
and there is nothing but
nothing and anything and everything
but death between them.
and one is brittle:
the other is stubborn-
one is still breathing:
the other just breathes;
this is how they run themselves,
how they along for but one moment
one last tiny breath
for a heaping mess of sticks and bones and sagging skin
as they pass another day.
