First entry - Bicon 2007

Aug 21, 2007 14:31

Well hi everyone! First lj entry ever, and it's all because of Bicon 07! I met so many fantastic people, and pretty much all of them requested lj details, so I figured I'd better get some!!! So for any of the BiCon peoples reading this who have managed to remember me from the amount of bouncing around like a crazy thing and hugging people I did, Hi, and feel free to add me and keep in touch. Thanks to all of you for making my first BiCon such a.... memorable... experience! *giggle* Y'all know who you are.

I would say to anyone who's interested and hasn't been yet, its definitely well worth it. This year was my first BiCon, and it was so incredibly fun I cant wait til next year. The old-timers are incredibly open, welcoming and supportive of the "BiCon virgins", that its impossible not to feel comfortable and at home. It's a great opportunity to meet a wide range of bi peoples from all over the spectrum, and to connect with people who get where you're coming from. Giving that Ireland doesn't have a particularly strong bi community, I felt that this was something which greatly helped my acceptance of the fact that my being bisexual is not such an out of the ordinary thing. It. Was. Great.

Now, the downside is, until I got home (at 11pm last night), I had only gotten 4 hours sleep in the preceding 48 hours, for various reasons... *insert flashback here* :p Its so easy to keep going until you collapse, but I really wouldn't advise it. Next year, I'm taking it easy! Though sitting in bed writing this is quite a relaxing luxury!

And now, I'm done. At five to three, staying in bed becomes too much like laziness. So I hope to hear from all you wonderful peoples soon. Take care!

Aoife
