It's Wednesday, and you know the drill! This is the place to post those small, niggling, not-quite-top-level fandom things that you're still pretty darn curious about.
*points to icon* I don't remember it being this kind of crazy spoiler lockdown with the last book, and I think it's like this now because of the trolls posting spoilers in places where you wouldn't even expect to find them. Though I have no idea how other fandoms deal with spoilers, since the canon for all my other ones is kinda over.
I think it's definitely possible it will have a considerable but not hurtful effect on how many of those accounts they sell. Though most of the kind of comments I saw around LJ about people not wanting to support LiveJournal now were from before they started doing all they could to fix the situation.
I personally haven't decided against getting any kind of paid account in the future. I think there was quite enough complaints for them already to have learned they messed up. They made one huge mistake, and I think they adequately apologized for it.
I'm just browsing through and saw that. Well, the real problem is that they (6apart) still haven't come forward with the new terms of agreement. So basically, you buy a permanent account and then they tell you what you can't do on it. Or even worse, suspend if it you break their new rules. So really, it wouldn't have been half the worried comments if they had actually bothered with the new terms before offering the permaccounts. They could have postponed the permanent accounts until they had the agreement ready.
