In true Michelle fashion, I've managed to break my eye.
On Saturday, we went to my company's holiday party. I got pretty drunk. And by "pretty drunk", I mean passed out in the cab on the way home. But I was happy, yay holiday!, drunk Michelle, so at least there was that. However, when we got home, though Dave tried to rouse me, he didn't have much success. As such, I woke up at around 8:00 AM Sunday, wondering why I was on the couch, and why I could see (usually I'm blind when I first wake up). Then I realize: d'oh! I passed out and didn't take off my contacts. So I do, then proceed to go to bed downstairs with Dave and the cat. When I woke up a few hours later... my right eye was not happy. It was red, irritated, my vision was blurred, and even the slightest light made it hurt. I spent much of the day miserable and unable to see, read, watch TV or use my computer. It was basically me and a dark room all day.
Today I went to the ER, after my eye doctor's office wouldn't see me until Wednesday. Turns out I have a corneal abrasion, due to my contacts being in overnight. I can't go to work until Thursday, and I have to use the same type of ointment they give you when you have conjunctivitis. On the upside, I got some sort of eye painkiller, which is pretty cool.
All in all, it's pretty ridiculous. However, I find it a really good sign that even with this crap, I haven't hit my usual holiday sadness, and in fact, have had a pretty good holiday season thus far. I really feel like this year was a huge turning point for me, and I'm pretty happy and proud of myself for it.
