Various reviews of the tv and book kind...

HEROES: I'll be honest, I want Peter and Sarah (that is the deaf girl's name right? ;hopes she was right;) to get together AND BE HAPPY. No death and angst writers, please. Peter has had enough crap already, and from the looks of things so has she. I also now finally get her power and I still think it's the prettiest thing (and there better be a score coming for season 4 damn it cause the music this season is awesome). As for Claire and her roommate...not really surprised. I'm just a little miffed that the writers have no problem putting in a lesbian thing that came out of no where but will not explore any of the slash potential we've seen on the show. Men.
GREEK: I loved this ep. One of the funniest ones we've had all season. I particularly love that Calvin is a closet fanboy. So cute and damn did he make that cap with ears look hot or what? Me, if I wore it, I would just look like the geek I am.
CASTLE: Love this episode and show in general. ABC: DO NOT CANCEL PLEASE. Ratings mean squat because how many people taped it for later, do you all think about that?
Now, time for two book reviews because I was busy reading yesterday and during breaks today:

TITLE: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
AUTHOR: Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
GENRE: historical fiction, classic twist, romance, horror, adult
PREMISE: I don't really have to explain Pride and Prejudice do I? Basically it's the classic tale retold with zombies infecting merry old England.
MY REVIEW: Part of me wanted to hate this. But I actually ended up enjoying more then I thought I would. I think the main reasons are, the author doesn't totally destroy the book, he keeps in the main parts of it and you can tell he has respect for Austen. The other reason? Elizabeth and her sisters kick ass. It was nice seeing them not completely useless. They thought about things other then catching a man. I thought Elizabet kicking Mr. Darcy when he proposed to her the first time was a particularly nice touch (and one of my fav scenes). Are the zombies a gimmick? Yes, but you know what? Who cares? Still fun and if you love horror movies and/or Austen, this book will be heaven for you.
RATING: 4 out of 5 stumbling zombies

TITLE: Airhead
AUTHOR: Meg Cabot
GENRE: young adult, chick lit, romance, comedy
PREMISE: Emerson Watts is a tomboy who hates fashion and is in love with her oblivious best friend who doesn't even seem to realize she's a girl. Then she gets into a fatal accident and wakes up to find the doctors switched her brain with a famous super model.
MY REVIEW: As kooky as it sounds, this book is fun. Like all of Cabot works, there is witty humor without being forced, strong female characters who don't make you want to smack your head into the wall, and she even manages to make this premise somewhat believable (no, seriously, I am now of the firm belief that Princess Di had this done to her and is now happily sipping cocktails somewhere in some peasants body and enjoying the hell out of herself). Cabot's books are always enjoyable even if I'll admit, she can be a little repetitive sometimes but she always strives to have something unique in her stories so I wind up not minding. Plus, again, very fun read. I loved Lulu. I didn't think I would but she really grows on you and she's hysterical to boot. Her explanation of men to Em/Nikki was fabulous.
RATING: 4 out of 5 fashionistas.
