Le Chevaleir D'Eon, vol. I (yes, I probably spelled that wrong...):
Okay, if you want a way to describe this anime I would say the Four Musketeers had it been written as a horror novel. It is loosely based on a real person's life (VERY loosely, go over to wikipedia to look up D'Eon's name and you'll see what I mean) and is set in the time of Louis XV who may or may not have been the one to get his head chopped off (I can never keep the Louis Kings straight). This one might not appeal to all, it's mostly historical fiction and therefore has a much more serious tone as well as few religious themes, but don't let that put you off. The animation is GORGEOUS, especially the background renderings of Versailles and Paris itself, the people are also well done too and look like actual people. The action is also mostly sword-fighting, and the story-telling is an intriguing mystery that makes me impatient for the next volume to come out. The packaging is also quite pretty too, on a completely unrelated note.
Coyote Ragtime Show, Vol. I:
Okay, bloody action scenes aside this anime is actually quite fun. I like action as long as there is a PURPOSE for it and enough of a back story for me to stick around through it all. CYS (sorry for the abbreviations) does actually have some interesting (and downright fun) characters. Mister and his crew are interesting, and Franca is downright adorable when she easily could have been an annoying kid (though I'm sure there will be fans who find her annoying regardless) and Swamp just cracked me up for some reason even though I know he wasn't SUPPOSED to be comic relief; maybe it was the whole him-being-a-reverend thing that got me ;)The twelve sisters also kind of made me raise my eyebrows too, come to think of it. All in all an enjoyable volume. What I really want to know however, is WHEN IS THE SOUNDTRACK COMING OUT? Because there was some awesome background music in this.
