I have an infection in my gums surrounding my wisdom tooth on my lower right jaw. Apparently that happens sometimes--joy. I am full of regret for not getting the teeth removed the first time someone mentioned it. Anyway, the gum started bothering me a little on Sunday, enough that I said I would call and schedule an appointment the next day, but on Monday it was extremely swollen and quite painful. Dad has some pull with a dentist friend in Cool Springs (I think) and got me in to see him that day. I was prescribed penicillin and have been taking it every six hours like clockwork--even when I have to set an alarm to take it on time. Still I am in pain and the situation seems no better. It hurts to touch both inside my mouth and outside, on my jawline, and it hurts to chew or swallow. Or smile, which has everyone thinking I'm in a bad mood.
Easter was nice though. Bobby came home for the weekend, and the four of us (Josh had to work) went to the farm with my dad's side of the family. I really enjoy Claire's company now, and she's great help for getting people wanting to play games. We played an ancient looking game called Perquacky, but we bastardized the scoring system so that the non-mathematically inclined/drunken members of the family could understand it, and we played Balderdash three times. I won all three!
I would buy Balderdash for North Carolina if you guys would be interested in playing. One player draws a card that has several obscure words on it, and you roll a die and read and spell the corresponding word out loud. Then everyone else makes up a definition to the word while you write down the real one, and you mix them up and read them all. You get points for guessing the right definition and for being convincing enough that people guess your fake definition. My biggest swings were Pahoehoe- a flat cake made from crushed acorns (it's really hardened lava) and Dupion- a practice rapier with a dull point (it's really a cocoon made by two caterpillars).
