I'll be honest, I think I mostly love Simon because he just looks so different from the typical anime character.
That aside, I love that he's so ridiculously strong but never uses it for personal gain, or for big-ass shounen fights. The pacifism is a really refreshing change, I just want to buy all of the Russian sushi in the world, I want to watch him punch Izaya in the face over and over again, and I really love the way he talks. Everything is just so chill and drawn out and really goddamn friendly, no matter what he's saying most of the time. And I just ADORE how everybody in canon kind of knows him; he's like a staple of the city and I bet the anime would be really different without him. 8|
And I mean- him talking to Kida was. akdfjl;dsa. And oh my god, when he was talking to Celty, it completely broke my heart. ;_; so much love for Simon.
He's just an amazing find in the story where everybody winds up fighting for something. Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass, who can threaten to put people into sushi and send them running without having to get violent at all.
...oh, and ffff, I really really love how he jumps from the top of buildings like it's no big deal. I'm like "DUDE SIMON, CAN YOU GET COOLER." and he's pretty much like "I WAS HALFWAY TO DOING THAT ALREADY."
