Firstly, that new One Piece chapter was the greatest thing in the entire history of forever, and this is not up for debate. I will icon it someday.
Secondly. I think that volunteering Usopp to be one of the four Beak Doctor chaser guys whatever they're called was actually good for him. So thank you for being all "VOLUNTEER USOPP", YEAH. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, KJ.
He hasn't done anything badass or anything, but being a guy who uses projectiles has rendered him generally useful to the situation. Dead scientists and droids and creepy interns included, even. I THINK HE MIGHT ACTUALLY BE GETTING BACK TO HIS CANON LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE-THAT-LACKS-CONFIDENCE-but-is-still-confidence-nonetheless.
When I'm less lazy, I may have to make another advent into development tl;dr.
