It's nice to have my own space. It's nice to have my own home, my own room, my own table, my own kitchen.
My own kitchen.
I really wish I had a bigger kitchen, to be honest. I mean, right now as it is, I shouldn't be complaining, because it's decent and I don't cook a whole lot and it's a bachelor apartment, c'mon. Bachelors don't cook a whole lot (unless they're the archetypical gay) and the whole apartment is fine as is.
But I would like more space, a more welcoming kitchen area. One that's still all mine, of course, but still. And I would like a wooden floor, nor carpet. I feel like I don't know if the floor's really clean with the carpet.
Anyway, cooking.
Tonight's dinner is a cream of chicken soup, a chicken baked rice dish, some salad, and an apple-crumble-ish concoction of mine.
Cream of chicken is fairly straightforward. I have a few packets of the thing from home.
The chicken baked rice is a bit more complicated.
Veggies in this: carrots (Diced), broccoli (itty bitty pieces of the flower), mushroom (a few whole, a few slices).
Chicken: ground lean chicken.
Seasoning: Salt, basil, oregano, and a little white wine. The wine mixes well and disappears into the chicken after a while.
I also mixed in the sliced mushroom.
I smooth the chicken out onto the bottom of a stone baking bowl I intend to use to serve, and put it into the oven until it all cooks.
Rice has to be cooked first for this next step.
I take the chicken out, and put the rice at the bottom.
On one side, I'll put the veggies in, and then the chicken goes back on top. On the side with the veggies, I arrange nicely the unsliced mushrooms. (this is Sean's side)
Cheese all on top! I've got a three-cheese grated mix from Kraft.
I stick it back in for the cheese to melt, and voila. Cheese baked rice!! =D
The apple crumble thing is actually what's left of my cake, and diced apple.
I cut my cake so there's two square slices. One slice, and then apple pieces, and a couple of chocolate buttons for fun. Then I pout the other slice on top of that, and put even more apple pieces on top.
I'll heat it up when I have to, and then take out ice-cream and put on it a generous dollop.
Hee hee.
