So police came knocking at my door looking for my upstairs neighbour. Twice. The first time there were five of them, the second time it was just two of them. Both times, when I checked my peephole, whoever was knocking at my door had stepped away, so I thought it was just my imagination, and then they came waving at my window. WTF.

Anyway, the second time, the police officer was like, "have you seen your neighbour at all? Not at all? He hasn't even come back? Oh, okay then. Did you know there's an opossum on the stairs there?"

No Officer, I did not:

I went as close to it as I could, and kept the flash off. It kinda just stared at me like that all the time. Didn't even take the cat food I left out for it.

That was a while back. This morning I set off for the UCR Botanic Gardens. I got lost looking for it, and then got lost trying to figure out how the paths on the map match up to the paths on the actual ground. The Gardens is a lot smaller than the map suggests. I'm not sure I understand how it works but I did find several scenic spots overlooking the university:

I disturbed a LOT of lizards who scuttled into the leaves as soon as they felt me approaching. Whoops. I got lost somewhere in the middle, but somehow managed to find the steepest hill up to the highest point. I was thinking of circling around and walk along the edge of the Garden, but thought I'd backtrack, at least this time. Good thing too, because this doggie just walked right in front of me:

I spent about five minutes watching and taking pictures:

Yay!
