Necklace!

So, remember all that dithering I was doing about the mandarin necklace for my Nova Albion costume?

Well, it's done!

Here it is, across my table. The main mala beads are green Buddhist prayer beads. There was a bit of issue because the beads I'd originally ordered were out of stock, so they were frantically trying to get in touch with me to make sure I got my order in before the CNY holidays. The silver fotou beads are acrylic, which I like because I think silver is underrated. Agate beads for the jinian. Took me a while to figure out how to string them so they fall as low as they do.

Closer look at the jinian string:

I bought the gears as part of a set from Michaels a long time ago. I knew I wanted them in there but it took me a while to figure out how to incorporate them in. The bits at the end are pine pendants I was actually going to use elsewhere but it looks so good here! There's a fuu in them too:

And the messy bit at the back with the sprocket, a pendant and ribbon. Took me AGES to tie the ends of the necklace to my satisfaction:

A shot of me wearing it:

And hanging on my wardrobe door:
