Summary : In which Jonghyun was a player who finally realized he was getting nowhere with his love games.

Jonghyun was a player and he knew how to play the games of love very well but everything changed - as cliché as it sounded - when he got together with Taemin. Everything about the younger boy drew Jonghyun in - his eyes, his pretty face, his adorable smile, his flexible body, his voice, his everything. It wasn’t long until Jonghyun finally made Taemin his.
They got together during Ring Ding Dong and everything was perfect for three whole months as Jonghyun stayed true to Taemin. It was during the Lucifer era when the two finally drifted apart. Taemin was older and he was no longer the naïve boy he was when Jonghyun reeled him in. Taemin could feel and see that Jonghyun was in no way faithful to him. At first it broke his heart and then it hurt his pride. Wasn’t he good enough?
Taemin always played innocent and tried to ignore Jonghyun’s flirtatious glances and advances towards his preys. Taemin thought he was okay with it in the beginning as Jonghyun came home to him and said that he loved him. However, the magnae soon grew tired of his hyung’s games and finally decided to face Jonghyun. Taemin gave Jonghyun the ultimatum - change or leave.
Jonghyun was stumped at first and promised Taemin he would change for the better. He said he couldn’t live without Taemin. He begged forgiveness from the dancer. The magnae caved in and they were good again. Jonghyun didn’t really change - he just kept it down low.. really low.
Right before their Sherlock comeback, Taemin found Jonghyun with his tongue down a girl’s throat. Instead of crying like a few years back, he just raised his eyebrow and walked away. When Jonghyun came home, all hell broke loose. Taemin had thrown his couple ring at his face and screamed profanities until Kibum had to come out from his shared room with Minho and hugged the boy until he calmed down. Jonghyun tried groveling but Taemin was solid. He called it off and warned Jonghyun he would cut his balls if Jonghyun would ever come near him again.
Jonghyun felt himself losing control as weeks passed by. Taemin was just so beautiful with his new concept that Jonghyun felt jealous towards every male that glanced at Taemin. When a fanboy hugged Taemin, Jonghyun had to bite his tongue from yelling at the fan. Jonghyun threw away his pride and he cried in front of Taemin and asked him to take him back. He told Taemin that he hadn’t been with another since their break up and he would be faithful to Taemin if the younger just have him again.
Taemin was tired of all the drama, but he also loved Jonghyun. With a few dozens chocolate boxes, cartons of banana milk, surprise cheesy notes and so on, Taemin’s resolve finally crumble and they became an item again.
Jonghyun opened the bedroom door that he shared with Taemin and Jinki soundlessly. It was 3 a.m. and he just got back from the club. He realized something that night. He realized that he really was an ass for playing the girls’ hearts. He realized that though he loved the thrill, he still couldn’t replace that empty hole inside his heart no matter how many girls he pursued.
Jonghyun climbed on the bed carefully and stared at Taemin’s sleeping face. He looked so peaceful, but Jonghyun needed Taemin to hear him out so he stroked the magnae’s face softly until Taemin flutter his eyes open.
“Hey.. I’m back.. I promise not to leave again..” Jonghyun whispered to his lover causing the younger boy to frown.
“You woke me up to say that?” Taemin asked him incredulously. Jonghyun just nodded and that annoyed Taemin.
“Look, if you want to leave me for another chic again, just go.. I’m tired. I don’t want to deal with this shit anymore..” Taemin huffed before returning to his previous sleeping position. He just wanted to sleep but Jonghyun wouldn’t have any of it and turned him around.
Jonghyun waited until Taemin open his eyes before saying, “No. I’m not leaving. Never again.”
Taemin just rolled his eyes and then closed them. He really wanted to sleep but he was sure if he pulled away from Jonghyun, the man wouldn’t leave him alone. So, Taemin let his head fall onto Jonghyun’s shoulder. This made Jonghyun grin happily. He immediately wrapped his arms around Taemin and nuzzled the younger male’s hair.
“Really, Tae.. I’ll never leave again even if you forced me to.. I’m sorry I did before..”
Jonghyun stared at the sleeping magnae and kissed his forehead softly while whispering a heartfelt “I love you”.
Taemin shifted slightly in his sleep and Jonghyun smiled before closing his own eyes. This time, sleep did not elude him and Jonghyun could feel the hole in his heart closing as Taemin’s dainty hands wrapped themselves around his torso. Jonghyun didn’t notice the magnae’s reply to his confession - “I love you too.”
