Summary : She never stopped wishing for his love and his heart for she had his body. But this is reality; fairy godmothers do not exist.

...

Chest to chest
Nose to nose
Palm to palm
We were always just that close
She opened her eyes slowly, trying to adjust her vision to her bright surrounding. She found herself pressed against none other than the Kim Kibum, also known as Almighty Key of SHINee. He was sleeping peacefully next to her in their bed. Who was she? She was his girlfriend, his lover, his confidante. Yes, SHINee’s Key had a girlfriend and no, he was not gay.

She chuckled softly at the memory of his couple names with his bandmates. JongKey. MinKey. OnKey. TaeKey. She smiled at the ridiculousness of it all. This beautiful man had chosen her to share his bed, secrets and love (hopefully). She looked at his sharp nose, down to his milky white expanse of neck and chest, and finally at their intertwined hands that rested just above her naked hip.

Wrist to wrist
Toe to toe
Lips that felt just like the inside of a rose
She looked at their tangled legs; stark white skin against her slightly tanned one. She marveled at his beauty and masculinity at the same time. Beneath his tight skinnies was a pair of strong and sculpted legs which were hidden from the world. But she knew the strength he bore underneath his frail looking body. She shot her eyes back at his soft plump pink lips. She sighed. He was beyond beautiful. He was almost perfect. Almost.

So how come when I reach out my fingers
It feels like more than distance between us
They had been together for more than a year, their secret safely tucked away from the public and even the members. He said it was for her own safety and good. She had bought that excuse countless of times before. But now, as she reached out to trace his face, doubt started to creep into her heart. She did not feel loved anymore. Her smile faltered and disappeared. She felt like she was just a convenience for him - a person who happened to be there to relief his needs and burden. It was not like when they first started off - the times when he would look at her lovingly and his touches conveyed genuine care and affection.

She closed her eyes against the tears that threatened to fall. She took a deep shaky breath and exhaled as softly as possible as to not wake him up from his slumber. She could feel them growing apart as the time flew. She missed him. She missed the one who would hold her close and the one who would share a conversation with her rather than just him talking or commanding or complaining and her listening and obeying. But she loved him. She loved him enough that she stayed. She loved him so much her heart ached.

Eye to eye
Cheek to cheek
Side by side
You were sleeping next to me
She felt a nose nuzzling softly against hers and fingers curling softly on her hip. She opened her eyes and her vision was filled with Kibum’s feline eyes staring at her intently. She could feel his eyes boring into her soul and she felt as though she was drowning. When Kibum inched his face closer to hers, her breath hitched. She felt Kibum caressed her cheek with his a few times before pulling back. She blinked a few times when she suddenly realized that he had fallen asleep again. A soft smile graced her lips at his behaviour.

Arm to arm
Dusk to dawn
With the curtains drawn
And a little last night on these sheets
She closed her eyes and scenes from last night replayed in her mind. She smiled at the memory of his soft lingering touches and she could almost smell the musky scent of sex and love they made hours before. She could almost taste it. She loved it. She loved him. Soon afterwards, she drifted off to the dreamland where Kibum loved her unconditionally.

So how come when I reach out my fingers
It feels more than distance between us
The phone rang and they were jolted awake by the ringtone. Kibum rolled away from her, picked up the call and began speaking in a hushed voice. She sat up against the headboard and looked at his back that was facing her. He never spoke quietly before. She frowned. She reached out a hand to touch him, but before her fingers could land on his smooth back, he stood up from the bed in all of his naked glory to walk into the bathroom. She stared at the closed door and let her hand fall on the bed limply when she heard the door lock clicked. She tried to steady herself and began taking deep breaths to calm her raging emotion and sadness.

It had been almost half an hour that Kibum had locked himself in that bathroom. She could hear water running but she knew he just turned the tap on to drown out his voice. She shook her head and began to dress herself hastily. Her heart was clenching painfully and her hands trembled as she buttoned up her previously discarded blouse.

Just when I felt like giving up on us
You turned around and gave me one last hug
That made everything feel better
And even then my eyes got wetter
Maybe we’re just not meant to be.. She thought to herself sadly.

She felt so empty and bereft as she picked up her purse from the floor. She did not realize that the water had been turned off and that Kibum was already out of the bathroom when she was hunting for her right shoe.

Just as she moved to unlock the door to the apartment they had rented together, long arms wrapped themselves around her. She froze in place. She could feel Kibum’s breath ghosting on her neck but she fought the urge to turn around and bury her face into his neck and sobbed her frustrations out. She bit her quivering lip and lifted her trembling hands to rest on his. She leaned back against him slightly and sighed. She closed her eyes and a willed the unshed tears to dry.

Just for awhile.. one last time.. she thought.

So confused, wanna ask you if you love me
But I dont wanna seem so weak
Maybe I've been California dreaming
“I missed you.” She heard him say. I missed you too..

“Come back to bed..” he cooed and she could feel her heart breaking. Do you even love me?

Still, she followed his lead and when he crushed his mouth against her bruised lips in a passionate kiss, she felt part of her dying a little bit. But when he sheathed himself in her and thrusted his hips against hers, she forgot everything and was brought to a place where only the two of them existed.

She woke up feeling cold, with a heavy heart and alone. She looked to her left where Kibum had been last night, but the only thing she found was a note.

‘I have to go. I’ll see you soon.’

That was all. No goodbye. No sweet kiss. No “I love you”. Just a simple note saying he would be back. But what for?

Her tears fell. She felt so used… so dirty. She let out a strangled cry and crumpled the note in her fist.

She loved him, she really did. He was her everything. But she was nothing to him. She cried herself to sleep, thinking to just leave the apartment and him. She prayed that he would return to her with his heart meant only for her.. but a wish is just a wish.

However, she knew, when she wakes up the next morning, she would stay. She would go home and go to work like she normally did. But come next week, she would be back at this apartment they had bought and she knew she would be loving him still.

This is her reality, a fairy tale gone wrong where she was nothing but a pheasant. And Kibum was her king, her everything.
